Megan Thee Stallion Discovers ‘Sex and the City
On ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ aired on Wednesday, October 23, the rapper also critiqued the characters.
Megan Thee Stallion’s failure to see Sex and the City is not her fault!
The 29-year-old rapper shared her current obsession with Sex and the City, which no one seems to suggest to her, during her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, October 23.
“Nobody told me Sex and the City was this good?” Megan teased. “I’m pissed. Nobody said, ‘Megan, you should be watching Sex and the City. Girl, this for the culture. Watch it! I don’t even know how I like it; stumbled upon it. I think I just kept seeing like, pictures of Sarah Jessica looking pretty as f—.”
“Her hair, shoes, and outfits were always so beautiful,” she continued. What is this show, I thought. Since no one placed me on, let me watch it and get involved. After I started watching the show, I found it impossible to turn away. The best thing is this! In addition to being a busy gal, I watch it when working out, when I’m in glam, and when I have nothing else to do. I feel like I’m cramming Sex and the City into it. And I’m like, “Have you seen Sex and the City?” to everyone.
Later, the “Mamushi” singer told host Jimmy Fallon that she still needed to see the 2008 Sex and the City film and its 2010 sequel.
“The way Sex and the City ended, I was a little upset, and they said, ‘No, you have to watch the movie.’ And I say, ‘OK, take me there because I don’t understand what’s happening,’” Megan said.
The actor/comedian, 50, then asked Megan for her reviews of the characters from the series, including Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), which she provided in great detail.
Megan began with Samantha, who she didn’t like at first.
“When Sex and the City started for me, I said, ‘Oh, I hate this character.’ Like, why are y’all making her like, oh my God, sex is like the ruler of my life? And it’s like, I’m just so desperate. I was like, this is horrible; this is a horrible character. But then, as the show continued, I said, ‘OK, hold on. Wait a minute.’ I’m glad I hung in there because she runs men. She does not let men run her, and she keeps trying to tell the girls to stop making men the center of their lives, like going shopping, having a good time, making money, and having fun with their little toys. And I’m like, yes, I did that,” she said.
When Megan describes Charlotte, she calls her “a little delulu” but adds the caveat that “it’s cute.” “She would be my bestie because she’s so emotional, and I feel it’s OK to cry. It’s OK to be a little crazy. She might be a Cancer in the show, but her character has to be a Cancer…. I’m sorry, Cancers, but y’all are very emotional, and I feel like Cancers and Aquarius go together very well,” she said.
Then, Megan dubbed Miranda “the worst character on the show.” “I cannot stand Miranda. She never got anything good to say. She’s so sad all the time…. How could anybody even fix their lips to be mean to Steve [David Eigenberg] Miranda figured out a way to be mean to Steve. The only thing Steve ever wanted to do was love this crazy lady,” she said.
Megan concluded by reviewing Carrie, the show’s protagonist. “She has gorgeous hair and cosmetics. I’m certain this dress looks fantastic with a pair of manolos. She does these cliched things as if she’s always attractive. She’s crazy. You know what, though [laughs]? This character reminds me a lot of myself; for example, Carrie loves drama as if she would actually awaken and ask how I could ruin everyone’s day. How can I ruin everyone’s day by being my cutest? In what ways might I complicate my life? In other words, she always had the option to choose correctly. She had the option of choosing sanity, but she consistently opted for insanity. Then I had to ask myself, “Is that me?”
From its 1998 premiere to its 2004 conclusion, Sex and the City followed four friends as they navigated friendship, sex, and love in New York City.
The show’s spinoff, And Just Like That…, which reunites Parker, Davis, and Nixon, debuted in 2021. The show’s third season is approaching,
