Cat Deeley’s upcoming reality show reboot has landed a release date – and it’s soon.
The This Morning star is set to host a revival of The Joe Schmo Show, a 2003 hoax reality series that saw one unsuspecting contestant believe they were on a real competition show while everyone else was an actor.
The new reboot, which has the same title, will follow Ben, an electrician who believes he is competing for a chance to win $100,000 on a popular game show when he is actually surrounded by a cast of improv comedians (via Deadline).

The synopsis continues: “The ten-part series will see actors and the entire working crew scramble to keep Ben from discovering the hoax.
“With each challenge, the stakes grow higher as production is forced to pivot storylines, and castmates, who Ben sees as competition, improvise strategies to pave the path to his victory.”
Cat Deeley serves as host of The Joe Schmo Show, which is scheduled to premiere on TBS on Tuesday, January 21 at 9pm.

“The modern revival of The Joe Schmo Show is the perfect complement to TBS’s best-in-class comedy lineup,” said Jason Sarlanis, President of Turner Networks.
“Filled with heart and hilarious reality game show hijinks, the series will completely immerse our audiences in the ruse, taking them on a wild ride and keeping them rooting for our protagonist week to week.”
The reboot comes after the success of Amazon Freevee’s Jury Duty, a similarly premised show that had actors staging a pretend court case to pull the wool over the eyes of one unsuspecting juror.
Created by The Office‘s Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, the comedy series took the internet by storm following its release last year.
The Joe Schmo Show premieres on TBS on January 21 at 9pm.
