Nick Viall and Natalie Joy’s dream wedding quickly turned into a nightmare when the newlyweds embarked on their honeymoon. The duo, who wed in a Georgia ceremony on April 27th, detailed the dramatic cancellation of their honeymoon to Turks and Caicos on a new episode of Nick Viall’s podcast, “The Viall Files.”

Sharing that the couple got stopped at customs with their three-month-old daughter River, Nick Viall explained, “They’re like, ‘Well, Natalie’s passport, there’s a page torn out of it.’ It’s Natalie’s passport, and they’re just like, ‘You got a page torn here. We went to Toronto and didn’t have an issue. Like, I’ve used this passport, I never had an issue. I have no idea what’s wrong.'”

Natalie added, “This was really, I feel like, a moment where Nick Viall and I got to not only, I mean, we had River in our arms, we had to hold it together for our daughter, but also it challenged us as husband and wife, and it was like the first thing we had to conquer as husband and wife.”

After Natalie was turned away, the two say their vows were put to the test pretty quickly with the ordeal, as the family was forced to wait 6 hours for another flight back to the US. Nick Viall recalled, “So after 6 hours, our flight was canceled because there was a maintenance issue. And then after it had a tire issue, and then once they got it fixed, of course, the pilot timed out. And in that moment, like, we’re fine, we’re grateful, we’re here with you guys, we get to tell the story, but in this moment, it felt like a nightmare.”

Once that flight was canceled, the country made an exception for Natalie, Nick Viall, and River to stay in a hotel for one night. The newlyweds say the ordeal put things into perspective for them.

Nick Viall shared, “It’s a little scary, you know, you’re a little, it’s a little scary to be in this like foreign country. But at the same time, it just puts everything into perspective cuz you’re just like, you know, at the end of the day, just we have, I have, we have to take care of our daughter, we have to take care of each other. And as much as it like sucked, you know, it was our, it was our first moment of like being a family and facing adversity together.”

As for rescheduling their honeymoon, Nick Viall said, “I think so, that’s the hope, you know, I don’t, it’s, it’s Thursday when you guys are hearing this. I don’t know what we’re going to do this week, and maybe we’re going to try to do something nice. We’re not, couldn’t know it’s going around here. I, we have to go to New York for work next week. We’re thinking Puerto Rico because I don’t know if we’ll have enough time to fix Natalie’s passport and I just, get back to why we did the honeymoon the way we did. We wanted to be a honeymoon, we didn’t want to be another trip.”

While the couple’s honeymoon plans were derailed, the experience seems to have brought them closer together as a family. Facing adversity and overcoming challenges are parts of any marriage, and Nick Viall and Natalie Joy ordeal allowed them to tackle their first major obstacle as husband and wife. Despite the initial nightmare, they remain committed to rescheduling a proper honeymoon, perhaps in Puerto Rico, once Natalie’s passport issues are resolved.

Their story serves as a reminder that even the most carefully laid plans can go awry, but it’s how couples navigate those challenges that truly matters. With their daughter River by their side, Nick Viall and Natalie Joy demonstrated resilience and teamwork, qualities that will undoubtedly serve them well in their new life together as a family.
