In reality TV, where love is often fleeting, the breakup of Alara and Stevan has stunned fans. Despite their strong connection in Perfect Match Season 2, the real challenge wasn’t in the villa but in the real world. Alara and Stevan, once a fan-favorite couple, are no longer together, and it all boils down to the struggles of a long-distance relationship.

Stevan, who lives in Los Angeles, and Alara, who is based in London, couldn’t make their relationship work after the cameras stopped rolling. “Don’t try to date someone who lives in another country,” Stevan said with Tudum.

The time difference between LA and London made communication nearly impossible, with one waking up just as the other was going to bed. Stevan admits, “I am not always on my phone like people think that I am. I barely post on social media, so it just didn’t work out in that sense.”

The communication breakdown wasn’t just a logistical issue—it led to a deeper rift between Alara and Stevan. They hadn’t spoken until Netflix’s Summer Break event, where Alara finally pulled Stevan aside for a much-needed conversation. Stevan acknowledged that Alara wasn’t too happy with how things ended, and he doesn’t blame her. “It is a tough situation, but at the same time, I was true to myself and what I needed to do,” he reflected.

Stevan has since moved on from the relationship and is seeing someone new, presumably closer to home. “I’ve been working heavy and seeing somebody as well,” he shared, indicating that he’s ready to leave reality TV life behind for something more grounded in the real world.

While Alara might not share the same sentiment, Stevan remains confident in how he handled the situation. “From my recollection, I just stayed true to myself and that’s all I try to do every single day,” he said. “That way, if things do go wrong, at least I can say that I made a mistake, rather than trying to act like something I’m not and regrettably do something.”

The split between Alara and Stevan reminds us that even the most vital connections on reality TV can struggle once the real world comes into play. Long-distance relationships are hard enough without the added pressure of living on opposite sides of the world. As Stevan wisely advises, perhaps the key to a successful post-reality show relationship is to stay emotionally and geographically close.

With Perfect Match Season 2 now behind them, fans are left wondering if anyone from the show will truly find their happily ever after. For Alara and Stevan, the perfect match wasn’t meant to be,
