Are Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom Breaking Up? Rumors Explained

Katy Perry’s year just gets better and better. (That’s sarcasm.) Back in September, this diva released the flop of the century, 143, and her accompanying Lifetimes Tour hasn’t exactly received glowing reviews either. The “Woman’s World” singer has gone viral for her gaudy costumes and impressive lack of dancing ability. Not to mention, she participated in Jeff Bezos’ controversial celeb Blue Origin space flight in April, which didn’t help with her reputation and popularity issues. The trip drew backlash for being seen as wasteful, exorbitantly expensive, and completely pointless! Shortly after the space flight, Katy shared a message to her critics in a lengthy Instagram comment: “When the ‘online’ world tries to make me a human Piñata, I take it with grace and send them love, cause I know so many people are hurting in so many ways and the internet is very much so a dumping ground for unhinged and unhealed.”

Apparently, all this backlash is starting to affect her personal life. Multiple outlets have reported that the relentless criticism is causing “tension” between the pop star and her fiancé, Orlando Bloom. Katy and Orlando have been together since 2016 and engaged since 2019. They share a daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom. Are Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom breaking up? Here’s what we know.

An insider told People that Katy and Orlando’s problems began in September after fans and critics alike roasted Katy’s 143 album. “Katy was deeply frustrated following the reception of her new album,” the source said. “It made her very stressed. Orlando was understanding, but it did cause some tension.”(Pitchfork‘s review kills me: “143 is a spectacular flop, but it’s a strange one—like one of those restaurants that looks nice and has an expensive menu but serves food so mid as to be insulting. It’s worse than awful.”)

Their relationship issues only got worse when Katy went on the Lifetimes Tour and they started spending more and more time apart. A second source noted, “She was also disappointed in some of the tour reviews. It’s put stress on their relationship.”

Katy and Orlando have been engaged for six years now, which could be a key issue… An insider told Us Weekly on June 10 that they “never set a date for the wedding or got around to planning anything.” Not a great sign. The source claimed, “They have been spending more and more time apart. They’ve grown apart and aren’t living the same lives anymore.” And according to another insider, “everyone around them knows” that they’ve been having issues for a long time now.

Despite all these reports of tension, Orlando was there to support Katy when she went on her (ludicrous) Jeff Bezos space flight, and they’re still liking each other’s Insta posts. They’re definitely still together for now, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
