Paul Young was rushed to hospital after suffering a fall at a hotel in Greece in September 2024, it has been revealed.
The British singer underwent three emergency blood transfusions following the accident due to blood loss.
Young, 69, said he was going down the stairs at a hotel in Santorini when he felt his leg “slip out from underneath me”.

“I fell and my leg cracked as soon as I hit the step. Once I’d gone down, I couldn’t stop. There was no handrail, so nothing to hold on to. I just thought, ‘I’ve lost control’,” he told The Mirror.
He said he fell down “three or four more steps, fracturing my leg again and again”.

“It was a multi-fracture. When I came to a stop, I looked down and my leg was in a slightly weird position, underneath my bottom,” he said.
It was when he tried to straighten his leg that the pain hit him.
Young was with his wife Lorna, 53, at the time. The couple tied the knot in July 2024.
Lorna was by his side as he was rushed to hospital and then flown to Athens for urgent treatment.
Young underwent surgery and was in intensive care for two days. He had suffered significant blood loss.
Young described the experience as “frightening”, but it wasn’t over yet.
Following surgery in Athens Young was flown home on a private plane which flew lower than commercial airlines to reduce the risk of blood clots.

He returned home to Bedfordshire where he had to learn to walk again, with one of the surgically inserted rods in his leg snapping causing “tremendous” pain. Young underwent a 10-hour operation.
Young told ITV’s This Morning his recovery has “taken a long time”.
“I’ve got to the point now where I look a bit saddle sore,” he added.
