Kevin Federline has a lot to say about Britney Spears in his upcoming memoir, You thought You Knew. In the new book, the dancer and DJ details his marriage to Britney and their co-parenting relationship — and he expresses some serious concerns about her.
A quick refresher on this relationship: Britney and Kevin tied the knot back in 2004 and were married for two years before the “Circus” singer filed for divorce in 2006. They finalized the divorce in 2007, and a long, complicated custody battle followed. (The exes share two sons, Jayden and Preston.)
Although Kevin’s memoir doesn’t come out until October 21, he’s been teasing the content and sharing pretty intense excerpts with The New York Times. Needless to say, Britney isn’t thrilled about the claims he’s making, and she responded with a heated tweet and a statement from her rep. Here’s what Britney Spears had to say about Kevin Federline’s memoir.
What Does Kevin Federline Say About Britney Spears In His Memoir?

In an excerpt published by The New York Times, Kevin tells a dark story about Britney standing in her kids’ doorways at night, holding a knife. “They would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep,” he writes, adding “with a knife in her hand. Then she’d turn around and pad off without explanation.”
He accuses Britney of abusing drugs and alcohol, claiming she drank wine while pregnant and used cocaine while breastfeeding. Kevin also remembered his ex-wife having “angry outbursts” toward the end of their marriage.
“The truth is, this situation with Britney feels like it’s racing toward something irreversible,” he says in the book. “It’s become impossible to pretend everything’s OK. From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we’re getting close to the 11th hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.”
Kevin believes the decision to release Britney from her conservatorship might’ve been “ill-advised.”
What Did Britney Spears Say About Kevin Federline’s Memoir?
The constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting. I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys.

Britney has some thoughts on those early excerpts. “The constant gaslighting from ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting,” she tweeted on October 15. “Trust me, those white lies in that book, they are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here… I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life the past 5 years. I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman would do the same.”
In a statement, a spokesperson for the singer added: “With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin. All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James, and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.”
As always, wishing Britney and her fam all the best.
