At the 2025 Golden Globe Awards this Sunday, Jan. 5, we’ll see so many of our favorite stars on the red carpet. After all, some Hollywood powerhouses like Nicole Kidman, Demi Moore, Kate Winslet and Angelina Jolie are all nominated and will surely make an appearance.
But while we can’t wait to see their gorgeous looks this year, and find out who will take home the coveted statuettes, we’ve decided to take a look down memory lane to these stars’ very first Golden Globes.
From Jodie Foster’s major win in 1989 to Kidman walking the carpet with a special someone in 1992, these first-time attendances are a part of Hollywood history.

Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman’s very first time at the Golden Globes was at the 49th Annual Golden Globe Awards in 1992. On the carpet, she smiled wide to the cameras while cozying up to her hubby at the time, Tom Cruise. The two were married from 1990 to 2001.
Demi Moore
Demi Moore looked sweet and fresh-faced at her first Golden Globe Awards in 1984. At the time, The Substance star was only 22 years old.
Kate Winslet
Speaking of fresh-faced, Kate Winslet was young as can be during her first awards back in 1996. She was 21 years old and just one year away from releasing Titanic and becoming an overnight icon.
Jodie Foster
Jodie Foster looked absolutely beautiful at the 1989 Golden Globe Awards in this black dress, pearl jewels and deep red lips. That night, she won her first statuette for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for The Accused.
Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie threw her care out the window as she licked her first Golden Globe trophy back in 1998.
That night, she won the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television Award for George Wallace.
Kathy Bates
Another first-time attendee and winner was Kathy Bates in 1991. The Matlock star won the Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama award for her performance as Annie Wilkes in Misery.
Plus, she absolutely stole the show in this black and gold ensemble. It’s quintessential 90s!
Cate Blanchett
Cate Blanchett also won during her first Golden Globe Awards. Blanchett won the Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama Award for Elizabeth.
Keira Knightley
Keira Knightley turned heads in this gorgeous white gown at the 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards in 2006. A true showstopper!
Pamela Anderson
While she’s nominated this year for The Last Showgirl, Pamela Anderson has only attended the Golden Globe Awards once before, back in 2006. On the carpet, she wore this black and white fitted dress with a dramatic neckline.
Jean Smart
Years before Hacks came to be, Jean Smart was already heading down the Golden Globes red carpet. In 2007, she made her debut in this blazer-inspired dress and her blonde curls in full display.
