Celebrity Comments About The LA Wildfires

As the devastating Los Angeles wildfires continue to engulf more neighborhoods and homes, at least 10 people have tragically lost their lives, nearly 180,000 folks have been forced to evacuate, and about 10,000 structures have been destroyed. For those who have been affected and are seeking help, here’s a comprehensive list of resources compiled by Mutual Aid LA. And for those who are able to donate, here’s a list of organizations that are providing relief to victims.

Many celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Mandy Moore, and Milo Ventimiglia, have shared that their homes were burned down. As the situation in Southern California worsens, more and more celebrities are speaking out, sharing helpful resources, calling out government officials, and responding to the extremely problematic online discourse about rich people deserving the fires.

Here are the celebrities speaking out about the LA wildfires.

John Mayer

In an emotional Instagram post, John reminded everyone that sentimental items like family photos, class rings, and letters are the most valuable things anyone can own, and losing those things is absolutely heartbreaking. “May those who have lost so much find some semblance of hope and support from their family and friends,” the singer wrote. “Stay safe, look out for yourself and for one another, and trust that humanity and all it entails, though sometimes hard to see, is alive and well. This is truly devastating.”

Olivia called out people “looting” evacuated areas and people who are “saying that LA deserves this because everyone is rich.” She stressed, “No one deserves to lose everything they have and all of their memories. We have a huge insurance crisis and many people did not have fire insurance.” Olivia pointed out that “hardworking” and “NORMAL FUCKING PEOPLE” are also being affected by this crisis. She also advised people to stop comparing the LA fires to Hurricane Helene.

Khloé shared a prayer she wrote for those affected by the fires. “Heavenly Father, We come before You in urgent need of Your protection and peace,” she wrote. “We ask that You watch over all the lives affected by the fires in California. Please bring comfort to those who are in harm’s way, and grant them safety and strength as they navigate these difficult circumstances.” The reality star prayed for firefighters, first responders, and families that have been displaced.

In another Instagram Story slide, she shared a tweet criticizing LA’s mayor, Karen Bass, for cutting the fire department’s budget. Khloé also posted a news clip about an arsonist allegedly starting the Kenneth fire and wrote, “You sick mother fuckers! What the fuck is wrong with people?!?! Arson!!!! May you be fully prosecuted!!! What scum!!!”
