Long before David Schwimmer found fame, he had an essential role in Rod Stewart’s divorce.
During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the actor reminisced about some of his “bananas” jobs before his career kicked off.
“One summer after my freshman year in college, I was just looking for work, and my mum said, ‘Well, you can be a process server for me,'” he recalled.

“Once, oh man, thank goodness I’ve never run into him since, but I served Rod Stewart,” he quipped.
“I don’t even know if he knows. I don’t think he knows.”
Host Stephen Colbert joked, “You could theoretically run into Rod Stewart sometime. Now he knows to punch you.”
Stewart’s first wife, Alana, filed for divorce in 1984 after their 1979 wedding.
In a 2021 interview with People, the rocker revealed why their marriage didn’t work out, confessing he was 34 at the time and felt too young.
“When I told my dad I was getting married, he said, ‘You’re far too young,'” Stewart admitted.

“When I got married a second time to Rachel [at 45], I really thought she was the one — but I got that wrong,” he said.
“Rachel broke up with me on a Monday evening, and it was heartbreaking. No one leaves Rod,” Stewart joked before revealing he met his current wife, Penny Lancaster, soon after.

“But that Saturday night, I met Penny at the Dorchester Hotel in London. The bass player in my band, Carmine, said, ‘Listen, you’ve just come out of a long nine-year marriage. You’re not ready yet.’ I nearly strangled him!”
Lancaster and Stewart became engaged in March 2005, and in November 2005, they welcomed their first child before tying the knot in 2007.
