Destiny’s Child singer Michelle Williams shared a tongue-in-cheek video after she was confused by a German fan about the Hollywood actress of the same name.
The singer, 45, told her 1.3 million followers about the fan mail mishap, explaining that Phillip sent her a sweet letter and pictures to sign – but they were of the Dawson’s Creek star Michelle Williams, 44.
“This is great, absolutely phenomenal, absolutely great,” Michelle says in the clip.
”And so I received this letter and I can’t wait to dig in and tell you guys what it says.
”It says, ‘Dear Michelle Williams, I hope this letter finds you in great spirits. My name is Phillip, and I have been an avid fan of your incredible performances in both film and theater.'”
The letter read fine initially, as Michelle is currently performing in the musical Death Becomes Her.
But soon, it became obvious the fan got mixed up.
”Your work in movies like Blue Valentine, Manchester By The Sea, and The Greatest Showman has deeply moved me and others, showcasing your exceptional talent,” he wrote, referencing the actress’ movies.
He asked her for her autograph but then mentioned the Death Becomes Her stage show, seemingly confused.
”Furthermore, I wish you the best and much success with your current production of Death Becomes Her at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.
“I am sure that your captivating performances will leave a lasting impression on the audience.”
Singer Michelle then held up to the camera the photos the fan asked her to sign, which were all of the actress.
“Thank you Phillip, thank you so much,” she said dryly, adding about her fellow star, “Her hair is fabulous.”
“So yes, Michelle knowns what’s going on as well, I can’t wait to see her hopefully sooner than later, it’s being worked out,” she added.
She added that she actually does get fan mail correctly addressed to her, but she just had to “acknowledge that”.
The Pussycat Dolls star Nicole Scherzinger commented underneath alongside laughing emojis: “OMG I CANNOT EVEN. You have me… sis!!!”
Another follower commented: “The letters are one thing… but the pictures always take me out.”
Michelle has reportedly addressed the confusion before.
