After the absolute hell our Amaya Papaya went through on Love Island USA season 7, the nation breathed a sigh of relief when she found Bryan, a decent man who not only understood her, but celebrated her. Amaya and Bryan made their relationship exclusive while still on the show and went on to become this year’s champions. We were all praying these two would have a happily ever after, since the people’s princess deserves no less! But alas, their relationship status has seemed uncertain at times post-Fiji.
There have been lots of rumors that Bryan cheated on Amaya, and according to the reunion teaser, he’ll address those allegations in the reunion episode. On August 25 (Reunion Day!), fans also noticed that the Love Island USA winners suddenly unfollowed each other on Instagram. So, did Amaya and Bryan just break up? If so, did it have anything to do with his alleged cheating? Here’s a necessary update on their relationship status.
Why Fans Think Amaya And Bryan Broke Up
Unfollowing each other is already a pretty major breakup indicator, but there’s more. Amaya appears to be hinting at a breakup in her depressing TikTok reposts. She shared one edit with the caption, “how it feels when you know you have to leave him alone,” and another that read, “when I finally pick myself back up and never let my walls down like that again.” The Love Island star also reposted a TikTok emphasizing the importance of platonic love.
While she and Bryan haven’t shared any official breakup statements yet, it’s not looking great. The Instagram unfollowing and breakup-esque TikTok reposts come after allegations that Bryan cheated on Amaya. A TikToker, Morgan, claimed in a since-deleted video that she saw him with another woman at a club in Los Angeles, and that he brought the woman back to his private Airbnb room. After that video got attention, Bryan seemingly responded with a TikTok video of Amaya jumping into his rooms. He captioned the post, “When everyone thinks you’re over meanwhile this is us.”
It sounds like we’ll learn more about the cheating allegations in the August 25 reunion episode: In the trailer, Andy Cohen says, “Chris, you were out with Bryan on the night of the alleged cheating.” Bryan responds, “I had a lapse in judgment.”
Amaya and Bryan seemed happier than ever when they appeared on Watch What Happens Live! on August 14. She even joked that just because they had to go to bed early “doesn’t mean we won’t have fun in the bedroom.”
