EastEnders airs intriguing Ian Beale plot in iPlayer release

EastEnders spoilers follow for Monday’s episode (January 20), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.

EastEnders has aired an intriguing development about Ian Beale, as Cindy’s attack plot continues to unfold.

Cindy recently woke up from her coma after she was left for dead by a mystery attacker on Christmas Day. Peter tried to find her a place to live, but with Ian refusing to let her stay, he convinced Reiss to give up the spare room in Sonia’s house.

Her return to the village was dramatic, as a brick was thrown through the window with a note attached which contained a sinister warning for Cindy.

In today’s episode, Cindy was struggling to cope, not knowing who to trust following the latest threat against her. Things got worse when Reiss told her she would have to move out, hoping that Sonia would return home soon.

Peter was concerned about his mum’s welfare, so Ian decided to visit her. Cindy was reluctant to let Ian in, so he faked chest pain which forced her to open the door.

Inside, Ian explained that Peter was worried about her, and Cindy admitted that she didn’t know who to trust anymore.

He convinced her to go for a walk, but when the pair went for a drink in The Vic, Cindy got a frosty reception and Elaine, George and Gina told her to leave.

Ian defended her to the Knights, but they refused to show any sympathy.

Back at Sonia’s house, Ian and Cindy considered the possibility that someone from her past could be behind the death threats, but they eventually ruled this out.

Cindy felt like she needed to make a fresh start, and she suggested to Ian that they start a new life together after all, with the villa in France still available.

Ian turned down this idea, but he said that Cindy could move in with him for a while, and she was grateful for this offer of protection.

“I’ll always protect you,” Ian said, with Cindy in a tight embrace. But as he smiled to himself, does he have an ulterior motive?

EastEnders airs on Mondays – Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
