Florence Pugh Reflects on Past Romance with Zach Braff
Florence Pugh recently opened up about her past relationship with Zach Braff, revealing the lessons she learned and how she’s approaching her new romance. In an interview with British Vogue published on September 18, Pugh, 28, spoke candidly about how her relationship with Braff, 49, was initially private but became public due to online criticism.
“I had to be public in the past because people were bullying me and my partner,” Pugh shared. The actress explained that defending Braff, who faced scrutiny due to their 21-year age difference, became necessary for her. “It’s not nice knowing that people are saying the worst things I’ve ever read about someone I love.”
Relationship in the Public Eye
After working together, Pugh and Braff began dating in 2019, but the relationship faced public backlash, especially after Pugh posted a birthday tribute to Braff in 2020. In response to the negative comments, Pugh took to Instagram to defend their relationship, stating, “I do not need you to tell me who I should and should not love.” Braff later praised Pugh’s defence, saying he couldn’t have followed her articulate response.
The couple eventually separated quietly in 2022, with Pugh expressing in an interview that they wanted to keep the breakup private to avoid public opinion. “We’ve been trying to do this separation without the world knowing,” she said, adding that talking about it still gives her “a lumpy throat.”
Moving Forward with a New Romance
While Pugh is now in a new relationship, she’s taking a different approach this time, keeping it private and allowing it to evolve naturally. “I am [in a relationship]… but for the first time, I’m allowing myself to take time and let something evolve,” she explained. Pugh emphasized the importance of letting the relationship grow authentically rather than rushing into it.
As Pugh reflects on her past and moves forward, she’s focusing on taking things slow and cherishing the moments of love without the pressures of public scrutiny,
