Goldie Hawn: Traumatic Experience
Goldie Hawn has opened up about a terrifying experience that left her shaken. During an episode of Kelly Ripa’s podcast, “Let’s Talk Off Camera,” the legendary actress revealed details of a home invasion at her former Los Angeles residence, which she shared with her longtime partner, Kurt Russell.
Sophisticated Burglary
Recounting the harrowing incident, Goldie Hawn explained, “We went to have dinner together, and we were gone for maybe two hours and 20 minutes or something. We returned and went into the house, and I went up the stairs and whatever. I walked into my closet, and I just lost it.”
The burglars had broken in from the balcony, entering their bedroom and closets. Hawn described the burglars as “very, very sophisticated,” as they had managed to knock down her safe door. “They got, you know, a lot of my goodies if you know what I mean,” she added, referring to the valuables stolen during the incident.
Recurring Nightmare
Goldie Hawn’s ordeal didn’t end there. Just four months after the initial burglary, another terrifying incident occurred while she was home alone. “It’s got to be about four months now. I’m in the house by myself; it’s the dog and me, and I hear this big thump upstairs,” she recounted, still shaken by the experience.
Initially unsure of what the noise was, Hawn later discovered that the burglars had attempted to enter her bedroom again while she was in the house. “As it turned out, the next day, we discovered that they were trying to get in my bedroom while I was in the house. That’s terrifying; tell me about it. I mean, I couldn’t believe it. What is happening?” she expressed, emphasizing the traumatic nature of the experience.
Leaving Los Angeles Behind
After these terrifying incidents, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell decided to leave their Los Angeles property behind. Hawn revealed, “While multiple outlets reported that a Los Angeles property owned by Goldie and Kurt was burglarized in 2019, this marks the first time the ‘Overboard’ actress has spoken about a second incident.”
The couple now spends most of their time at their home in Palm Desert, a decision motivated by a desire for safety and security. “We actually thought, ‘What if we couldn’t live in LA? Where would we live?’ And we both decided it’s Palm Desert,” Hawn explained.
Feeling Safer in Palm Desert
While Goldie Hawn feels safer in her new Palm Desert neighbourhood, the trauma of the home invasions still lingers. She ensures she’s never home without a guard, stating, “I’ve had a guard, especially when I’m alone now. I don’t, I don’t never without a guard. We have a nice relationship with our guard, and you feel good, you feel good.”
Despite the harrowing experiences, Hawn finds solace in knowing that her new community prioritizes safety. She recounts an incident where burglars were caught within three minutes, contrasting her experiences in Los Angeles.
As Goldie Hawn bravely shares her story, it serves as a reminder of the importance of home security and the traumatic impact such incidents can have, even for the most celebrated individuals.
