During the January 4 concert, the rapper – who turned 25 on New Year’s Day – reportedly told the crowd, ”I’m sorry guys, surely y’all can forgive me.

“It was my birthday and it takes a long time to look like a Barbie,” she said, before launching into her collaboration song with Nicki Minaj, Barbie World, for the 2023 film Barbie, according to Youth Jam.

The rapper, whose real name is Isis Naija Gaston, was slated to begin the half-hour show at 10:30pm, and was the second last headlining act of the festival. She was followed by British drum’n’bass duo and Chase & Status, who rang in the new year with festival-goers.

Instead, the Boy’s a Liar rapper began her show at 10.55pm and performed two songs before her microphone was cut mid-song and she had to leave the stage.

Once the rapper realised she was being cut off, she and her crew walked off the stage to a chorus of boos from the Aussie crowd.

“At 11.01pm – they gave her an extra minute… they cut the mic and you heard the collective sigh from the crowd,” he claimed.

“They’d been waiting for a while and they get two songs? So that was a bit ridiculous and it was just really disrespectful how she walked off, she was laughing. They tried to give her flowers for her birthday and she just shrugged them off”.

Larney added that in his view the rapper acted as if “she didn’t want to be there”.
