Are we about to get Matty Healy’s side of the Taylor Swift situationship story in new music from The 1975? That’s what the streets are saying, or at least that’s what U.K. tabloid The Sun is saying. According to an “insider,” the pop rock band is working on their next album, and it includes material about Matty and Taylor’s brief but dramatic 2023 fling. It was rare, I was there: Matty was dancing to “Lover” at the Eras Tour as if Taylor wrote that song about him, and they were both mouthing romantic messages to each other on stage. What a time to be alive.
When Taylor’s Tortured Poets Department album came out in April 2024, I’m pretty sure we all assumed the material would be about her basically-husband, Travis Kelce. But alas, 90 percent of the songs, including “But Daddy I Love Him,” “Guilty As Sin?,” “The Tortured Poets Department,” and “Fresh Out The Slammer” appeared to be inspired by her time with Ratty.
Naturally, The 1975 singer weighed in on the speculation that his new music is about Taylor… Here’s Matty Healy’s response to rumors that his next album is about Taylor Swift.
Is Matty Healy’s Next Album, God Has Entered My Body, About Taylor Swift?
This info is from a tabloid report, so we obviously have to take it with a grain of salt. That being said, The 1975’s next album is rumored to be titled God Has Entered My Body, according to The Sun. Per the source, “everyone at the studio” during a 1975 recording session thought that the band’s alleged new title track is about Taylor and Matty’s situationship.
“Matty will never publicly comment on his relationships, but he lets his deepest feelings out in his songs and gets everything off his chest,” the insider claimed. The report also included a rumored lyric from the song: “Keep your head up, princess, your tiara is falling.” I sincerely hope this is fake, as it’s insanely condescending.
Matty’s no longer on Twitter after his unhinged Azealia Banks feud, but he’s still active on Reddit, and he chimed in on a The 1975 subreddit about the rumored Taylor-inspired music. “Huge if true,” he joked. Lol.
Honestly, I’m not sure what kind of content to expect on Matty’s upcoming record, because in October 2024, he pretty much denied writing about Taylor. “I would kind of just be lying if I made a record about, I don’t know, all the stuff that was said about me or my casual romantic liaisons,” he said on the Doomscroll podcast. The singer pointedly added, “I think that a lot of artists become very interested in their lore or they become interested in the things that have happened outside of their art that people know about, and they want to address that.”
He clarified, “I’m just not interested in it,” adding, “The idea of making a record about something that personally happened to me, that by the time I put it out is gonna be like two years old… I see people doing that as well, and it’s not interesting.” Not the shade!
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if there really is a God Has Entered My Body album and title track, and if it’s about Taylor. Personally, IDK how you could have a situationship with the most famous woman in the world and not write about it.
