If you’re a fan of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills (RHOBH), you might recall Kathryn Edwards making her debut in Season 6. However, her time on the show was short-lived—she left after just one season. In contrast, Erika Jayne, who joined the cast alongside Kathryn, has become one of the franchise’s most iconic figures. With nine seasons under her belt, Erika is tied with Lisa Vanderpump as the second-longest-running Housewife in RHOBH history.
Despite their different trajectories, Kathryn recently shared her admiration for Erika’s evolution on the show. During a candid interview, she reflected on her brief RHOBH stint, Erika’s longevity, and how the Pretty Mess singer has grown over the years.
Kathryn Edwards Applauds Erika Jayne’s Contribution to RHOBH
In a recent appearance on the Beyond The Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast, Kathryn Edwards opened up about the latest season of RHOBH, cast dynamics, and, of course, Erika Jayne. Surprisingly, Kathryn had nothing but praise for Erika, applauding her for consistently delivering drama and entertainment throughout her nine-year run.
“She’s brought it,” Kathryn said, acknowledging Erika’s contributions to the show. “She’s given, she’s delivered every season.”
Kathryn went on to credit Erika for embodying what it means to be a Real Housewife. “She’s been really a Housewife. She’s, I mean, even though she’s not a Housewife [in the traditional sense], she’s given the franchise what they want. And I think hats off to her for that.”
A Rocky Start Between Kathryn and Erika
Kathryn and Erika’s relationship didn’t start on the best footing. During their time together in Season 6, the two clashed after Kathryn shared with Lisa Vanderpump (LVP) some unflattering comments Erika had made. This led to tension between the two newcomers, and Kathryn’s quick departure from the show left little time for their dynamic to evolve.
But years later, Kathryn admits her perspective on Erika has changed, particularly after witnessing Erika’s struggles in the wake of Tom Girardi’s legal and financial scandals.
How Tom Girardi’s Scandal Made Erika “Human”
For Kathryn, Erika’s involvement in the Girardi scandal marked a turning point in how she viewed her former co-star. She shared that Erika’s challenges and vulnerability made her more relatable and, in Kathryn’s words, “human.”
“Honestly, I mean, I think that that’s what makes her human,” Kathryn said. “Because everyone can see all the flaws—for God’s sake, we can see everything that’s wrong with her.”
Kathryn added that Erika’s willingness to confront her past mistakes and acknowledge her struggles has shown significant growth. “But when she at least acknowledges that those are the things that screwed up her life and maybe weren’t her best choices… good for her. Maybe there’s some growth there.”
Erika’s Legacy on RHOBH
As RHOBH continues its 14th season, Erika Jayne remains a polarizing yet integral figure. Over the years, she has navigated lavish highs and devastating lows, from her extravagant lifestyle to her public fallout following the Girardi scandal. Through it all, Erika has maintained her spot as one of the franchise’s most talked-about stars.
