Linda Robson breaks down in tears on Loose Women discussing her best friend Pauline Quirke’s dementia diagnosis

Actress and TV host Linda Robson has fought tears on air recalling the years spent alongside best friend and co-star Pauline Quirke, who was diagnosed with dementia in 2021.

Appearing on Loose Women, Robson explained she and her fellow Birds of a Feather star had been close since they were 10 years old and “did everything together”.

“We travelled all over the world with Birds of a Feather and everything, and we want to amazing places,” Robson shared.

“We just had such amazing times honestly, and she was an amazing actress as well.”

Robson recalled some of their escapades together, including times they rubbed shoulders with stars, like Prince and George Michael.

“We had great times back in the day,” she said.

Robson began to tear up during the broadcast as the panellists honoured the actresses long-term friendship.

“Clearly you’re there for her and you’ve got a bit of a experience too and you’ll lean on each other going forward,” host Christine Lampard said. “It’s just lovely hearing all of the stories.”

The actress couldn’t fight her tears any longer as the panellists embraced her with hugs and support.

“Oh darling I know,” Lampard said. “It’s always very difficult for anyone who loves anyone going through it.”

Just a few days before the emotional TV appearance, Robson took to Instagram to share a short post dedicated to her friend.

“This will be the only time I speak on behalf of my best friend, Pauline,” she began.

“For the past three years, I’ve been in close contact with her husband, Steve, and have spent time with Pauline.

“It breaks my heart to see her endure such a terrible illness. Out of respect for her family and her privacy, I will not be discussing this matter further.”

The post came just days after Quirke’s husband Steve Sheen released a statement sharing that Quirke had made the decision to step back from her career due to her diagnosis after 50 years in the spotlight.

“Pauline has been an inspiration through her work in the film and TV industry, her charity endeavours and as the founder of the very successful Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts (PQA),” Sheen said.

“Her talent, dedication, and vision have touched countless lives and will continue to do so through the legacy of her work and through PQA where her vision and guidance has facilitated many young peoples’ progression and interest in the Arts and enhanced their self-confidence.”
