The family of Love Island contestant Samantha Kenny has finally spoken out about her budding relationship with fellow islander Joey Essex. Samantha’s sister, April, believes the couple could go on the hit reality show, admitting that their family is “rooting for them.”
While the Kenny family is enthusiastic about Samantha’s connection with Joey, April, 35, revealed that their dad can’t bring himself to watch the show live. Instead, he has the episodes “proof-watched” first to ensure he’s prepared for any steamy moments involving his daughter. “My dad is getting it proofread before he watches it to ensure it’s OK. April shared that although she was a fan of The Only Way Is Essex, the reality series that catapulted Joey to fame, her sister Samantha wasn’t particularly invested in the show. “We watched TOWIE when Joey was on, and we always thought he was brilliant,” she said. “He’s comical, good-looking, just the vibe, so we were over the moon when he picked Samantha. He’s got Sam’s family’s seal of approval. They seem genuinely happy and getting on like a house on fire.”
The 26-year-old Islander’s sister fully supported Samantha’s growing connection with Joey, gushing, “We love him. He’s absolutely gorgeous. Joey is fun and good-looking. He’s got everything for Sam.”
