Love Island stars Will Young and Jessie Wynter, who captured fans’ hearts on the ITV2 reality show in 2023, have revealed ongoing struggles with their home renovation project. The couple, planning to spend the Christmas holidays in Australia, shared that they were left in disarray after a builder reportedly “ripped them off,” leaving their dream project in limbo.
Renovation Nightmare
Farmer Will, appearing at Tulley’s Christmas Lights event, spoke to The Sun about the challenges they’ve faced during renovations on their family home in Buckinghamshire. Clearly frustrated, Will shared:
Turning directly to the camera, he warned the builder:
If you’re watching this, we know what you’re up to.
The couple planned to complete their kitchen renovation before traveling to Australia for the holidays, but the setbacks have thrown their plans into chaos. Will added:
“We’ve got someone else in who will hopefully take on the work, but the kitchen has been pushed really, really far back. It’s a little bit worrying because we want to be in Australia in the next week or two. I might have to send Jessie home while I stay back to sort it out. Maybe I should get my dad to take on the renovation instead!”
Life on the Farm
Earlier this year, Jessie, 27, shared updates on their farm, which she and Will have been working on together. The couple has been building their dream home on Will’s family’s 700-acre estate near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. Their property includes a variety of animals, including donkeys, alpacas, goats, pigs, and lambs. Will and his family care for over 4,000 sheep, alongside five alpacas named after Greek gods, and Will’s two pet pigs, Timon and Pumbaa, inspired by The Lion King.
Blossoming Love Story
Despite the renovation troubles, Will and Jessie’s relationship has thrived. Engagement rumors have swirled around the couple for months. During a public appearance at the TV BAFTAs earlier this year, they confirmed that a proposal is on the horizon. Will told reporters:
“There’s no maybe about it. One hundred percent. We are doing that.”
Since meeting on Love Island, Jessie relocated from her native Australia to join Will in Buckinghamshire. The couple has split their time between the UK and Australia, balancing their relationship, family life, and work on the farm. Will, who gained fame on TikTok by documenting life on his family’s £1.6 million estate, even released his first book, For the Love of Farming: Farmer Will’s Guide to Life in the Fields, last October.
A Look Back: Will’s Love Island Journey
Will entered the Love Island villa in January 2023, seeking a break from his busy farming life to find love. Speaking in his pre-villa interview, he admitted:
“Growing up on a farm has been quite difficult juggling relationships and work. Love Island will give me time away from the farm to go out and find love. I think I’m at that time of my life where I’m mature enough to go and find a wife.”
What attracts me is energy. If the energy is there, she can do whatever she wants. As long as she respects what I do and my busy times of the year, that’s all I need. If she loves it, bonus! But it’s not a big issue for me.
Looking
While their renovation troubles may have thrown a wrench in their plans, Will and Jessie remain committed to building a life together. As they prepare for their Christmas trip to Australia, fans are hopeful the couple will overcome their current challenges and continue to thrive—both on and off the farm.
