Margarita Forés death: Celebrity chef Margarita Forés dies at 65 ‘suddenly’ as her heartbroken son pays tribute

Celebrity chef Margarita Forés has died at the age of 65.

Her son Amado Forés confirmed the sad news in a statement shared on Instagram with followers.

“Dear Friends and Family, It is with a heavy heart that I share the sudden passing of my Mom, Margarita A. Forés,” Amado wrote.

“Our family is mourning this unexpected loss, and we kindly ask for your prayers during this time.

“We will be able to share more in due time. With gratitude, Amado.”

His followers and fans of his mother flocked to comment and send their condolences underneath.

According to the Manila Standard, the celebrated Filipino chef missed a lunch meeting and was found in her hotel room in Hong Kong unresponsive.

But no cause of death has been given just yet.

The publication reports that the talented chef survived cancer twice and once battle thyroid cancer.

The news of the death comes shortly after Amado and Margarita posed up together for an interview with Tatler Philippines which came out February 3. 

In the interview, Magarita, who specialised with her passion for Italian food and owned her own restaurants, told Tatler that she was looking to slow down a bit before her shock death.

“At 65, I have realised I have worked so hard already. So, what I really want to do is wind down a little bit,” she told the publication.

She added that she was looking to “travel” more.

In January, she shared photographs with Gordan Ramsay after having met the chef.

Margarita claimed the coveted title of Asia’s Best Female Chef in 2016.

She also ventured into TV, hosting Harvest with Margarita Fores on CNN Philippines.
