Milo Ventimiglia on losing home in ravaging LA fire

One of the many celebrities who lost their homes in the LA wildfires, Milo Ventimiglia, returned to the burned house with CBS News. Ventimiglia and his pregnant wife, Jarah Mariano, evacuated their Malibu house on Tuesday and later watched their home burn to a crisp through security cameras. The actor described the heartbreaking moment they watched the flames completely take over what was once their home. “I think there’s kind of a shock moment where you going, ‘Oh, this is real. This is happening,’” he said.

Ventimiglia continued talking to Tony Dokoupil as they stood over the ruins, “Then, at a certain point, we just turn it off. It’s like, ‘What? What good is it to continue watching?’” noting, “We kind of accepted the loss.” The actor and his wife reportedly grabbed all the essentials while evacuating but had to leave behind certain things they brought for their baby, including a crib. He later talked about the “good friends” and the “good people we’re working with,” assuring that they will “make due” because as of now, the “wife and baby and dog” are the most important.

Before that, Milo Ventimiglia described feeling “heavy” upon first seeing the charred remains of their lovely home amid LA wildfires. “You start thinking about all of the memories and different parts of the house and whatnot,” he told Dokoupil. Ventimiglia also said it was heartbreaking to see all the neighbors’ houses and the area around, which appeared to be in a similar condition. He even took the news host on a tour of the burned-down property, telling him where the kitchen and the stools were as they stood over the rubble.
