Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, one of the most successful couples ever to emerge from Love Island, met in the villa in 2019. However, their relationship was not always smooth. While on the show, Tommy was caught up in a love triangle involving Molly and fellow contestant Maura Higgins, leading to some tense moments that still haunt her today.
A viral clip that horrified Molly-Mae
A certain clip from the villa still circulates online; Molly-Mae freaks out every time she sees it. In it, Maura is lying under the covers on one of the day beds at Love Island villa, chatting to Tommy before lifting the covers to look at his crotch.
Molly and Tommy watched this moment when they left for the TV special “Love Island: What Happened Next” in the subsequent year. It turned out awkward despite Molly and Tommy being close friends with Maura now and putting their love triangle behind them.
The Chaos Causing Love Triangle
However, these days, as loyal viewers know, all three people are best friends. They were not like that inside The Villa, though. After entering the villa as a bombshell, Molly becomes coupled with Tommy, who seems smitten by her immediately.
Although Molly didn’t seem sure about him, the boxer was clueless about whether he wanted Molly, so when new bombshell Maura showed much interest in him, it caused havoc within the compound. This made Tommy want to know more about Maura because Molly went mad. After some flirty exchanges between Maura and Tommy, a recoupling arrived, leaving Tommy to decide who to choose. The boxer chose Molly, thus ending things with Maura, with whom they have been together since then.
Future for Molly-Mae and Tommy
The professional boxer proposed last summer on a romantic holiday just after their daughter Bambi was born in January 2023. While stating he wants to marry her, Molly-Mae said they will not rush into weddings yet as she is only 24.
In an exclusive interview with Closer magazine, the 25-year-old Tommy revealed that he and his fiancee, Molly-Mae, have not made any immediate plans for the upcoming wedding. “We’re not putting pressure on it,” he said, adding, “We’re enjoying being engaged and enjoying that period of our life, so we’re in no rush.”
Molly-Mae and Tommy have come a long way since the Maura love triangle caused drama in the villa. They cemented their bond and gave birth to a child. Now, the couple is focused on their new family life together and is taking time to plan their dream wedding.
