This year’s Anime NYC convention has been a hit for Netflix, with the streaming service debuting brand new trailers for three of its biggest shows for next year: Blue Eye Samurai season 2, Devil May Cry season 2 and Record of Ragnarok III. That’s on top of a teaser for Splinter Cell: Deathwatch, airing on October 14, and a mid-season trailer for Sakamoto Days part 2. Frankly, I don’t even know what to be excited for the most.
We’ll dive into the specifics of each new trailer shortly, but let’s cover some context. We’ve already got more new anime shows to look forward to on top of what Netflix has just debuted, including The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity, BEASTARS and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The Summer Hikaru Died and Sakamoto Days are still airing episodes on a weekly basis, and all of this is before we even consider the streamer’s extensive back catalog (which, in my opinion, has some of the best anime shows of all time).
So, why is it these three shows that we need to be keeping an eye on? According to fans on X/Twitter, the new trailers already look “even better than Arcane,” which is an absolutely massive statement. The League of Legends anime still has a whopping 100% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, and I’m incredibly confident that at least one of Netflix’s new anime seasons can rival its success.
Blue Eye Samurai season 2

It’s Blue Eye Samurai season 2 that I’m really putting my money behind to rival the success of Arcane. The unique beautiful visuals and darkly compelling storytelling instantly set season 1 apart from the crowd, and if the above is anything to go by, the creators aren’t compromising on the details. Production has only just started, so I’d assume we’ll be waiting to see new episodes towards the middle or end of 2026.
The teaser shows Mizu on a demon’s path, and we’ve got no idea who is standing in her way. Creators Amber Noizumi and Michael Green told Netflix in 2023, “Mizu has a lot more blood to spill,” but is her target solely Abijah? “He has function, he’s a road map to the others. She fully plans to kill him, but she needs him first,” Green added.
Devil May Cry season 2

Not only is Devil May Cry season 2 definitely coming in 2026 (probably earlier than Blue Eye Samurai season 2 considering we’re getting a first look), but it’s following the original video games to the letter. In the above clip, we see Dante face off against his still-alive twin brother Vergil, even though he’d been written off as dead last time we saw him. “I hoped it would be you, little brother,” Vergil says as the two run at each other, blades drawn.
Already sitting pretty with a 95% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s another shoo in for GOAT anime state alongside Arcane. The fact season 2 was renewed only a week after season 1 premiered didn’t hurt either, but it’s the gritty gothic aesthetic and sharp handle on its characters that fans love the most. Anime as a whole isn’t short of demon hunters, but Devil May Cry is among the best to watch.
Record of Ragnarok III

Unlike the other two shows, we’ve already seen a glimpse of what’s to come in Record of Ragnarok III. This is a second trailer that’s been released now. Creator Takumi Fukui told Netflix: “Much time has passed since the explosive ending to the second season. Thanks to the support of our fans, the third season is finally here! How will that fiery battle we depicted in the comic be recreated? How will certain moves and scenes come to life on screen?
“Plus, familiar characters will cross paths again. I can’t wait for everyone to see the continuation of the battle between gods and humanity!”
This is a little bit of a cheat date-wise, too. We’ve currently got no idea if Record of Ragnarok III will be airing in one go or on a weekly basis which will run well into 2026. However, it’s better news it episodes do all drop at once, set to begin just before the new year in December 2025. Fingers crossed for the latter, but I’ve got a feeling Netflix will enjoy their established success of a weekly drop once again here.
