The child poisonings of Corby, Northamptonshire, described by the Guardian as “the worst child-poisoning case since thalidomide,” lie at the heart of Toxic Town, a new four-part Netflix drama with a first look trailer out today.

Starring Doctor Who‘s Jodie Whittaker, Sex Education‘s Aimee Lou Wood, The Diplomat‘s Rory Kinnear, Bridgerton‘s Claudia Jessie, and Trainspotting screen legend Robert Carlyle, Toxic Town traces the discovery and long legal battle led by the families, primarily mothers, of children born with deformities caused by toxic dust from Corby’s former steelworks. In 2010, Corby Borough Council was found negligent for its botched removal of waste from the British Steel factory, closed in 1979.

Written by Jack Thorne (Enola Holmes, His Dark Materials, Stranger Things: The First Shadow), the limited series is a co-production between Netflix and Broke & Bones — owned by Black Mirror creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones.

Toxic Town is streaming on Netflix from Feb. 27.
