The 40-year-old former WWE star, once known as Nikki Bella, has requested that neither she nor Chigvintsev, 42, receive spousal support. Additionally, Garcia is seeking sole legal and physical custody of their 4-year-old son, Matteo.
On September 11, Us Weekly confirmed that Garcia had filed for the dissolution of her marriage. Her representative issued a statement the next day, asking for privacy for the family as they navigate this challenging time.

Garcia and Chigvintsev began their relationship after she ended her engagement with ex-fiancé John Cena. Their romance blossomed following her participation in Dancing With the Stars, where they first met. After several years, the couple tied the knot in August 2022 but decided to part ways.
Chigvintsev’s arrest on a domestic violence charge occurred just over a week before the divorce filing. Napa County jail records show that he was taken into custody with a bail set at $25,000 but was later released on the same day. The domestic battery charge against Chigvintsev falls under California Penal Code 273.5(a), which involves injury to a spouse or cohabitant. A 911 dispatch tape also revealed that Chigvintsev initially sought medical attention during an altercation with Garcia, where he alleged she threw shoes at him.
In the aftermath of the incident, a source told Us Weekly that the couple is no longer living together. Garcia’s family, including her twin sister Brie, have stood by her side, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring a safe environment for Matteo.
