Adrien Brody‘s partner Georgina Chapman has weighed in on his Oscars red carpet kiss with actress Halle Berry.
Footage taken from the night shows Extra red carpet interviewers Mel Robert and Terri Seymour asking Chapman, who is the former wife of disgraced Hollywood heavyweight and convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein, about the kiss.
Social media commentators have labelled the smooch as disrespectful to Chapman. It came 22 years after Brody kissed a shocked Berry on stage after she presented him with his first Best Actor statuette.

In the footage, Chapman, a fashion designer and actress, is asked by the Extra hosts for her reaction to the kiss.
“I mean, how can you deny a man a kiss with Halle Berry?” she said.
She was also asked if Brody was OK with it, to which she replied, “He was more than fine.”

“We saw you reunited with Adrian. We saw that moment. You said you were waiting to pay him back,” Robert said.
“Like 21 years I’ve been waiting to get him on a red carpet and slap one on,” Berry replied, before adding she proceeded after checking with Chapman.
“Only because she was fine could I do it.”

Berry’s ‘payback’ comes 22 years after Brody planted a kiss on Berry moments after she presented him with the 2003 Best Actor Oscar for his role in The Pianist.
“I bet they didn’t tell you that [kiss] was in the gift bag,” Brody joked before launching into his acceptance speech.
While the move raised eyebrows at the time, it was further dissected in the years that followed, especially in relation to the #MeToo movement.
Berry addressed the event on Watch What Happens Live in 2017.
“I was like, ‘What the f— is happening right now?’ That is what was going through my mind,” she told the show’s host Andy Cohen.
“And because I was there the year before and I know the feeling of being out of your body, I just f—ing went with it. But I was like, ‘What the f— is going on right now?'”

Brody also addressed the kiss as recently as this year when he told Variety, “We live in a very conscious time, which is a wonderful thing… And nothing that I ever do or have done or would’ve done is ever done with the intention of making anyone feel bad.”
Berry took to Instagram this week to post a video of the moment she finally got Brody back.
“Surpriseee @adrienbrody!! I had to get some payback,” she wrote, along with a winking emoji.
