The money problems just keep on rolling in for Teresa Giudice and her husband, Luis Ruelas. Last week, we learned that the couple owed over $3 million in taxes to the state of New Jersey. Now, Luis is begging for an extension for a $1 million loan that he just took out last year on their home. With all of this mess, we’re starting to wonder if it’s time to get the camera back up for The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
RHONJ’s Luis Ruelas and Teresa Giudice have money issues

In January 2021, Luis and Teresa bought their Montville home for $3,350,000. The sprawling property has seven bedrooms and ten bathrooms, and they didn’t take out a loan for the initial purchase.
Fast forward to 2024, and Luis took out a $1 million loan against the home. The loan was taken out via an LLC where Luis is listed as the sole owner. Now, The US Sun has reported that Luis is asking the bank for more time to pay it back. Plus, he wants some additional cash.
On March 24, 2025. a mortgage modification was filed with the state of New Jersey where he asked for another year to pay back the loan. The original maturity date of the loan was March 24, 2025. His lender agreed to give him until March 25, 2026, along with an additional $250,000.
The court docs read, “The Lender is lending to Borrower an additional loan in the principal sum of $250,000 and Borrower has executed and delivered to Lender, a Mortgage Note for the principal sum of $250,5000.”
On the first of every month, Luis will be expected to submit payments for the loan. However, that might be easier said than done considering all of the other financial troubles surrounding him and Teresa. With no word on if they’ll return to RHONJ, it might be time for these two to start submitting some job applications.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey is streaming on Peacock.
