British TV presenter Richard Osman has opened up about a recent health scare that saw him rushed to hospital for emergency surgery.
Osman shared the painful experience on the most recent episode of his podcast The Rest Is Entertainment.
Podcast cohost Marina Hyde began their most recent episode by asking Osman how he is and he said he’s “quite alright”, but has had “quite a week of it”.

Osman described waking up “the other night in pain” due to a kidney stone.
“If anyone at home has ever had one, the single most painful thing that’s ever happened to me,” he shared.
Hyde said she’d previously suffered from one and also said it is “more painful than childbirth”, which she’s “had three of”.

Osman said while it was painful, he doesn’t quite believe it is more painful than childbirth, despite his doctors making similar comments.
“It was unbelievably painful,” Osman continued before thanking his medical team at Charing Cross Hospital “who were so great”.
“I was having liquid morphine and it didn’t touch the sides,” he said.
“Then I had an operation and they took it out.
“So I have the absolute joy of not being in pain.”
Osman said doctors told him to “just drink more water” to avoid getting another kidney stone.
“That I can do, no major lifestyle changes, just drink more water,” he said.

Osman is the former host and creator of BBC TV quiz show Pointless. He stood down from the hosting role in 2022.
Pointless is currently hosted by Alexander Armstrong and airs on the Nine Network.
In addition to his podcasting duties, Osman also makes regular appearances on British TV shows including The Fake News Show, House of Games and Would I Lie To You?
Osman is also the author of several books including The Thursday Murder Club which became a series. The first novel was followed by The Man Who Died Twice in 2021, The Bullet That Missed in 2022, and The Last Devil To Die in 2023.
The Last Devil To Die reached number one on the New York Times Best Seller list. The fifth and latest book is due out later this year.
Osman appeared on a recent episode of High Performance, describing himself as an “introvert” despite is many achievements.
The TV host is married to British actress Ingrid Oliver whom he met when she appeared on Osman’s show House Of Games.
Oliver recently shared a post wishing her “unicorn husband” a “Happy Birthday”.
