Robert Pattinson On Fatherhood And Becoming ‘Sexiest New Dad’

Twilight alum and the Batman Robert Pattinson has been a dad for almost a year now — and it seems like he’s taking it in stride. I mean, you don’t win People’s “Sexiest New Dad” award just for being a hot father — you have to be a little good at it too.

Although I was always Team Jacob, I understand the allure of Rob. Now, personally a man becoming a father is actually an ick, but for the sake of last year’s award I’ll let that go. Besides, it really does seem like Rob is having the best time as a new father. For someone who’s notoriously unmoved by many things, fatherhood seems to be the exception for Rob.

And don’t just take my word for it. Here are some of the wonderful things Rob has said about fatherhood since welcoming his child back in March 2024.

Becoming a father helped Robert become more social.

In an interview with GQ, Rob said becoming a father “opens up a huge world.” While he felt like a “hermit” before having his kid, now — because he frequents places like the playground more — he hangs out with neighbors he never would’ve spoken to.

“There’s something so lovely about going to a random person’s house just because they have a kid around the same age and having, like, daytime hangouts,” he said. “I can’t actually believe it’s happening to me, but like, having a barbecue on Sunday and saying like, ‘You, uh … you watch the game?’ I was like, this is dope. I love this.”

Batman is on Team Baby now

Before he had a baby with his fiancé Suki Waterhouse, Robert admits he had zero interest in seeing pics of other people’s kids. In fact, he didn’t want to hear about them at all.

“It is weird: Until you have a kid, talking about kids? You’re like, ‘I don’t care about your kid at all. Literally the only thing it represents is you’re just not gonna hang out anymore,’” he shared with GQ. “And then as soon as you have one you’re like, ‘Oh, this is, like, way better than hanging out with my friend anyway.’”

It’s amazing to watch a kid’s personality develop.

Even when Rob and Suki’s baby was super young, he could already see hints of a personality growing. “I’m amazed by how quick their personality comes, at just 3 months,” he said. “I can kinda see who she is already. It’s great.”

It’s a roller coaster.

It’s probably the hardest thing to describe what becoming a parent is like, but Rob P. defines it pretty well by saying it “makes you feel very old and very young.”

He’s a diaper pro.

I can’t quite picture Robert Pattinson changing diapers but hey, what do I know? While comparing baby duties between her and Rob, Suki said, “I would say I change more diapers, but diaper changing — he really excels at it and enjoys it. He thinks it’s fun.”

He was anxious during the birth, but got it together after.

“He was there with me and like all dads, he was really nervous,” Suki said about Rob being in the delivery room when it was time for the birth of their child. But that anxiety has not trickled into the rest of fatherhood for him, apparently. “For someone who’s quite an anxious person, he’s been very calm,” she said.

He’s just the dad she wanted for her daughter.

Basically, Rob is just the man for the job. Suki said he was the “Dad I could have hoped for. I mean a dad and his daughter?” Too cute.
