With the phrase “never say never,” Ruth Langsford broke her silence about a possible return to This Morning.
There have been several appearances by the host on This Morning since 1999, but not since 2022. She is currently a panelist on Loose Women.
On Wednesday (November 27), it was announced that editor Martin Frizell would be leaving his job after ten years. This led to rumors that the speakers might be getting a new look.
Speaking at Brisbane airport ahead of an appearance on I’m a Celebrity: Unpacked, Langsford showed support for Loose Women co-stars Jane Moore and GK Barry, and also shared that she wasn’t aware of any prospective changes for the show following Frizell’s departure, which will occur next year.
“I don’t know [about any changes]. I haven’t been on it for two years,” said Langsford. When asked about a possible return, the star, who has also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, simply replied: “never say never.”
Frizell, who had been in his role since 2014, released a statement to confirm his departure from the show, saying: “Next year I’m expecting my family priorities to change so I need to free up time for them.
“I love my team at ITV and will miss them and the thrill of live telly but it’s an always on, 24 hours a day, seven days a week commitment and I won’t be able to do both. It’s been a privilege to lead truly great presenters and producers.
“Between us we’ve turned out more than 6,000 hours of live topical telly – that’s around 20,000 items and, whilst the gongs are always nice, I’m most proud of the change we made to so many lives… This juggernaut is the toughest test for any broadcast journalist.”`1
