Despite their recent divorce, Sam Asghari stands by Britney Spears, demonstrating that some bonds transcend marital status. The latest incident showcases Asghari’s unwavering support for his ex-wife in the face of social media mockery.

On Thursday, September 12, Britney Spears, 42, posted an Instagram video reacting to Sabrina Carpenter’s 2024 MTV Video Music Awards performance. The video, which has since been deleted, caught the attention of social media influencer Michael Pavano, who created a mocking reenactment and posted it on Friday, September 13.

Asghar i’s Response

Sam Asghari, 30, didn’t let the mockery slide. Day after Pavano’s video went live, Asghari commented,

This simple yet pointed response echoed the sentiments of many social media users who criticized Pavano’s video as mean-spirited and called for leaving Spears alone.

Spears’ Original Video

In her now-deleted video, Spears shared her thoughts on Carpenter’s VMA performance,

  • She admitted to not watching the awards ceremony but catching clips on YouTube.
  • She expressed confusion over Carpenter “kissing an alien onstage,” wondering why she didn’t kiss a girl instead.
  • Despite her confusion, Spears admired Carpenter, saying, “I love her. I adore her to death.”
  • Spears appreciated Carpenter mentioning her name on the red carpet, which made her feel “cool.”

Sabrina Carpenter, 25, delivered a space-themed medley of her songs “Espresso,” “Please,” and “Taste” at the VMAs. The performance included:

  • A snippet from Spears’ “Oops!…I Did It Again” during a song transition.
  • A space theme similar to Spears’ “Oops!” music video during the performance of “Taste.”

Asghar i’s Continued Support

This isn’t the first time Asghari has come to Spears’ defense since their divorce,

  • The couple married in June 2022 and filed for divorce in August 2023, finalizing it in May 2024.
  • In May 2023, Asghari criticized TMZ’s documentary “Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom,” calling it “absolutely disgusting” for those who didn’t support Spears during her conservatorship to now tell her story.
  • Even during the divorce filing, Asghari’s rep stated that he “has always and will always support” Spears.

Asghari and Spears’ relationship began in 2016 after meeting on her “Slumber Party” music video set. Asghari has consistently supported Spears throughout their relationship, especially during challenging times.

This latest incident demonstrates that despite their marital status change, Asghari remains a steadfast ally to Spears in the face of public scrutiny and mockery.

As celebrities continue to navigate the complex world of social media and public opinion, instances like these highlight the importance of support systems, even after relationships end.
