A London performance by Hollywood icon Sigourney Weaver has been brought to an abrupt end.
The play at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane was interrupted when Just Stop Oil activists entered during the production of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
The Alien star, 75, was briskly removed from the stage and venue after two Just Stop Oil representatives began littering the crowd and stage with confetti.

According to BBC News, the disruption was addressed by an announcement to the venue: “We’ll have to stop the show, ladies and gents. Sorry.”
The activists were met with a cacophony of boos and the occasional cheer from the audience as they carried an orange banner stating their mission.
“Over 1.5 degrees is a global shipwreck,” it read, referencing recent climate change data and the plot of The Tempest.

After just a few minutes, the duo protesting climate change were swiftly removed from the venue.
According to The Guardian, the 42-year-old woman and a 60-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass after attending a London police station.
Just Stop Oil has begun dominating headlines with topical and attention-grabbing demonstrations, including protests at the Proms, Stonehenge and the Chelsea Flower Show.

Just Stop Oil’s latest demonstration references ongoing concerns from scientists who say that if the earth rises above the 1.5-degree threshold, the globe may experience irreversible and damaging environmental consequences.
A statement made by the group in light of the demonstration read: “The pair could be seen holding a sign which read ‘Over 1.5 Degrees is a Global Shipwreck,’ referring to the recent announcement that 2024 was the first full year over the 1.5-degree safe limit for global temperature rise.
“World Leaders stated they would aim to keep the world below 1.5 degrees of warming at the Paris Agreement in 2015.”
