Simone Biles Shines on the Red Carpet
The Chicago Bears NFL star and the Olympic gymnast have been wed for over a year.
As close as they can be as a couple, Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens have recently had to spend some time apart due to their divergent work schedules.
The 27-year-old Olympian appeared in Los Angeles for the second installment of Simone Biles Rising: Part 2, her Netflix autobiographical documentary series.
But her 29-year-old husband couldn’t make it because he was probably too busy training for the Chicago Bears’ game against the Washington Commanders on Sunday. Since March, the Bears have had Jonathan, a safety, on the squad.
Rather, Simone Biles brought her family with her, walking the red carpet alongside her sister, Adria Biles, and parents, Ron and Nellie Biles. Members of the Gold Over America Tour and other Olympians also backed her.
Beginning on September 16 and running through November 3, Gold Over America showcases some of the most well-known gymnasts in the nation and abroad, many of whom are also Olympians.
During the nationwide tour, Simone and Jonathan have been forced to spend time apart as the NFL season kicks off in earnest, although the 11-time Olympic medalist was able to catch one of her husband’s games last month when their stops coincided.
The pair continues supporting one another despite not being on the carpet together. However, Jonathan takes to social media to fawn over his famous wife.
He posted a pair of Instagram Stories that showed Simone twirling around in her hotel in her gorgeous Galia Lahav dress. The dress featured a floral bodice with a sheer black skirt that flashed her black underwear. “My baby [Premiere] ready!!!” he wrote alongside a snap of her.
On the other hand, Simone Biles told Good Morning America on the carpet about how she hopes to support her husband while they’re both on the road, saying she tries “to go to as many games as I can.”
“Obviously it’s a little bit harder right now because I’m on tour, but we got to go to one while on tour. And other than that, [I will] the rest of the season.”
Earlier this year, Simone Biles appeared on the Alex Cooper podcast Call Her Daddy and got emotional while addressing the frequently negative reception her relationship has received on social media.
“One evening, I lost it and asked myself, ‘Why are you people discussing my spouse in such a negative way? “You don’t know him,” she assertively stated. “If anyone has met him, you know he’s the sweetest guy and will do anything for anyone, but you don’t know who he is.” The way they were discussing my husband wounded me a lot. Talk about me all you want, but never come for my family, in my opinion.
