Taylor Swift news: White House responds to Donald Trump’s comment that she is ‘no longer hot’

Because there’s nothing more important on his To Do list, Donald Trump has taken yet another pot shot at Taylor Swift – and this time, the White House has weighed in.

Last week, the man elected president of the United States fired up Truth Social to ask his followers, “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?'”

Clearly, an uneventful day in the Oval Office.

On Monday, a reporter raised the matter during a White House press briefing – a reassuring sign the world of US politics is under control.

“What does President Trump mean when he says that Taylor Swift is no longer hot?” Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked, per People magazine.

“Look, he is speaking about Taylor Swift’s political views and how perhaps it has impacted the support of the American public for her work,” replied Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

“I will leave it at that.”

The president’s bizarre attack on the Cruel Summer singer is a callback to how he responded when she endorsed his opponent Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 election.

Swift made her position known in a post to her millions of Instagram followers, accompanied by a photo of her holding one of her three cats.

“I’m voting for Kamala Harris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them,” she wrote.

“I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”

The star signed off her statement as “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady”, a dig at the comments from Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, who labelled a number of prominent Democrats as “a bunch of childless cat ladies”.

Unsurprisingly, Trump didn’t handle Swift’s endorsement particularly well.

Five days after her post, he responded via Truth Social, writing in all caps, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!”

“I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was just a question of time,” he said in an interview around the same time.

“She’s a very liberal person, she seems to always endorse a Democrat and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.”

Swift is yet to respond to Trump’s comment or the White House’s response, presumably because she, at least, has better things to focus on.
