After a truly wild Emilia Pérez controversy (hi Karla Sofía Gascón), a The Brutalist AI accent scandal, and Timmy Chalamet’s polarizing SAG Awards speech about “greatness,” we’ve finally reached the grand finale of the chaotic 2025 movie awards season. And thank goodness for that because I’m on the verge of a crashout after watching Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo lose awards a billion times. I literally cannot handle it anymore.
This post-Barbenheimer year was the year of Wicked, The Substance, Anora, A Complete Unknown, Conclave, Dune: Part Two, I’m Still Here, Nickel Boys, and apparently The Brutalist, though I’m personally skeptical of a movie that requires an intermission. It was also very much the year of Challengers, but The Academy decided to just ignore that cultural phenomenon. While I’m still recovering from the criminal snub, it seems like Zendaya’s moved on and is living her best Shrek 5 life. Simply iconic.
I’m not gonna lie… With the exception of Zendaya and America Ferrera’s gorgeous looks, 2024 was not a fantastic year for Oscars fashion, so I’m really hoping everyone ups their fit game this year. You may recall that pre-Wicked Ariana wore a giant pink sleeping bag for the occasion, so it frankly can only get better from there.
I’m passionate about overanalyzing red carpet looks and I can’t wait to share all my strong opinions with you: Here are the best and worst dressed celebs at the 2025 Oscars.
Cynthia Erivo — Best
‘Scuse me while I go PASS THE FUCK OUT. Are you kidding me??? I think this is my new favorite Oscars look, like ever.
Timothée Chalamet — Worst
I fear pale yellow isn’t Timmy’s color… (Do not tell Ms. Club Chalamet I said that.)
Ariana Grande — Best
Arianators and theater kids, remain calm: Galinda the Good Witch has arrived and she’s looking magical AF.
Fernanda Torres — Worst
She’s gorge, but this dress is a bit too chaotic for me… What’s going on in the middle there?
Doja Cat — Best
Doja Cat in her cheetah era!! Stunning, gorgeous, perfect, no notes.
Ethan Slater — Worst
Galinda’s BF went with The Basic Man Look and it’s fine. But this is the Oscars! And it’s a Wicked Oscars! Where’s your pink and green, sir?
Selena Gomez — Best
The picture of elegance, class, and timeless beauty… I am such a proud Selenator tonight and always. She’s GLOWING!
Mikey Madison — Best
Margaret Qualley — Worst
Babe, you are literally a star of a Best Picture nominee… I really feel like we can do better than this painfully boring dress.
C0lman Domingo — Best
One thing about Colman? He’s gonna serve every single time. These other boys could never.
Whoopi Goldberg — Best
Oh, so she decided to serve tonight. I’m living for this fabulous bluish, grayish metallic number!
Zoe Saldaña — Worst
Okay, I LOVE the black and maroon combo, and the gloves are iconic. But this dress is totally swallowing her!! She’s disappearing behind the ginormous ruffles.
Andrew Garfield — Best
Raw, next question. (Respectfully.) A brown suit has never looked this good.
Demi Moore — Best
She’s eating!! This skin-tight silver gown is giving Oscar winner.
Bowen Yang — Best
I realize this look may be polarizing, but I’m always gonna applaud a man for going above and beyond a basic black suit. Points to Bowen for the Wicked theme here and points for just being an icon too.
Amelia Dimoldenberg — Worst
I love you, chicken queen, but I’m just not… wowed by this dress? The cutout is kinda meh.
Rachel Sennott — Best
I’m completely obsessed with this insanely flattering, sheer, sparkly, pink slay. And the fuck ass bob? The cherry on top.
Lisa — Worst
I appreciate this White Lotus diva giving us an edgy, kinda risky suit-dress situation. That being said, the bottom is a little too busy/messy for my liking.
Felicity Jones — Best
This dress should be boring, but the fit is stunning and the metallic hue is actually breathtaking. Love the waist bow, too! Bravo, Felicity.
More to come…
