The Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco Reunite: ‘My Buddy’

The Big Bang Theory never really comes to an end and former stars of the show, Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki, are back together again to remind us of that. Cuoco, who starred as Penny, and Galecki, who portrayed Leonard, recently reunited in an advertisement for the brand new mobile game, Royal Kingdom, and fans loved seeing their sweet interaction.

About ‘The Big Bang Theory’ reunion between Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco

Both stars shared the 60-second ad to their Instagram, writing their own sweet messages about their reunion. See the video below and what they said about it.

Game Night with @sanctionedjohnnygalecki just leveled up thanks to @royalkingdom #RoyalKingdom #ad…” Cuoco wrote. “This was so fun to shoot! Back together with my buddy JG.”

Galecki responded to the post, writing, “I adored this day with you, my dear. XO!” He later shared the video himself.

“Game night with @kaleycuoco just got a serious upgrade thanks to @royalkingdom…” Galecki wrote.

During the minute-long video, Cuoco gears up for an old-fashioned night of board games when Galecki comes running in with Royal Kingdom on his phone. Galecki then begins to throw Cuoco’s board games out the window and she follows suit. She ends up chucking her credit cards because it is a free mobile game, her internet router because you don’t need WIFI to play, and her TV because the game is ad-free (unlike most things on TV).

This may be the first official reunion between the two celebrities since the end of The Big Bang Theory in 2019, but the former cast members have quite a long history. Galecki and Cuoco first met in 2007 when the series first aired, and they have shared since that there were feelings between them.

While their characters were being pushed together on screen, the actors behind them were falling for each other too. In 2008, Galecki and Cuoco made it official and began dating.

I had a very big crush on Johnny early on,” Cuoco explained. “I was so not even hiding it. He has such swagger. We were both dating people at the time, but I only had eyes for Johnny. Then, when I found out he had eyes for me, too, I was like, ‘Uhoh, this is going to be trouble.’”

Their relationship lasted almost two years before breaking up in late 2009. However, after their relationship ended, the two actors remained close friends off screen and their characters remained entwined. Penny and Leonard eventually ended up together in the series, tying the knot in Season 9 of the series. But the actors noticed once they broke up in real life, the show creators began to poke fun through their characters.

“All of a sudden, we started noticing there were extra makeout scenes for our characters,” Cuoco shared as part of the book The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series. “I was like, ‘I think Julianne MacNeill Chuck [Lorre] is f—ing with us!’ We were convinced. Convinced! Like, ‘Yeah, they want to date and break up on my show, well, here you go!’ and he was writing all the little doodads in there.”
