Calling all Supernatural fans: if you haven’t already, you’ll want to go ahead and sign up for Amazon Prime Video. Your favorite demon-hunting brothers are reuniting as both Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles are on board for the fifth and final season of the satirical superhero drama The Boys. And that’s not all—Misha Collins, who played Sam and Dean Winchester’s angel Castiel, will also be making an appearance. Here’s everything we know so far about the much-anticipated collaboration.

‘Supernatural’ alum Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins set to guest star on ‘The Boys’

Fans are in quite an uproar following an Instagram video posted Wednesday, February 26, where Ackles, Padalecki and Collins teamed up to tease that they’ll be reconnecting on screen for the first time since Supernatural ended in 2020.

“Hey, Jared,” Ackles, 46, says at the start of the clip. “We got work to do…again.”

“Okay. I’ll tell Misha,” Padalecki, 42, responds before panning the camera over to what seems to be a well-known Chevrolet Impala with paranormal symbols on the inside of the trunk.

“Okay,” Collins, 50, chimes before asking: “What are we doing?”

The actor also commented on the post, jokingly writing: “Jesus, here we go again. Sorry, Internet.”

What we know so far about the reunion

While no details have been revealed regarding the roles of Padalecki or Collins, Ackles joined The Boys in season 3 as the character Soldier Boy, America’s first ageless superhero, and will be reprising his role for the upcoming final season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Prime Video has confirmed that the three will share scenes.

The Boys creator and show runner Eric Kripke was also the boss of Supernatural, which ran for 15 seasons on the CW. Kripke has made a habit of bringing his former colleagues into his latest fictional world, including Jim Beaver (playing Robert Singer), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (playing Joe Kessler) and Rob Benedict (playing Splinter).

The tight-knit group has been waiting to work together again

In 2024, Kripke confirmed that he was eager to add Padalecki to the mix. While the actor had previously been busy filming the CW series, Walker, the show ended after four seasons in June 2024.

“But now, unfortunately, [‘Walker’] got canceled—but the good thing is he’s free,” Kripke told Variety of Padalecki.“I feel like I have to complete my game of Supernatural Pokémon and I have my one big one—very big one—left to catch.”

During an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers In 2022, Ackles looked back on what he called a “really sad” departure from Supernatural after 15 years.

“There was a reason why I think we all stuck around, though, because we just truly enjoyed it,” he said. “It was a family. We went through so much together as a crew and as a cat that by the end of it, it was a really sad goodbye. But it was something we all felt we earned.”

And Padalecki shared a similar sweet sentiment in a 2021 interview with The New York Times

“I love Jensen deeply,” he gushed. “He’s my brother—he has been for many years, and he always will be, no matter what. He’s spent more time with me on camera than anybody probably ever will, so he knows my strengths and weaknesses more than I do, and vice versa.”
