The TV doctor posted a selfie from the hospital with a bandage visible on his right eyebrow.
“Not quite how I planned to spend my Saturday night,” he wrote in a since-expired Instagram Story, adding a face-palm emoji.
After sparking concern amongst fans, Dr Ranj clarified what happened, explaining he had suffered a fall and “earned” five stitches.

“Apologies should have explained… I slipped and face-planted the pavement… earned myself 5 lovely stitches,” he wrote.
“All sorted though! And thank you for the messages of concern. x,” he added.
Earlier this year, Dr Ranj announced he would pursue a career in theatre when he was cast in the role of Lance du Bois in the national tour of & Juliet.
Premiered in 2019, the jukebox musical was created by Schitt’s Creek writer David West Read and explores what would have happened if Juliet hadn’t died with Romeo in William Shakespeare’s tragic ending.

Speaking with PinkNews, Dr Ranj said he needed to “chase more joy” and a career change felt like the right way to do just that.
“Not everyone has the same experience, not everyone is privileged enough to have gone to theatre school. Everyone’s going a different pathway,” he said about getting ready to shine on the boards.
“Not only did I do regular rehearsals with everybody else, I did extra classes because I needed to get myself up to speed and try to keep up with everybody. I put in so much work, and I’m hoping it’s paid off.”
