When Tom Sandoval was confirmed to be a part of The Traitors Season 3, you couldn’t help but laugh at the irony. Of course, a guy whose life blew up because of a cheating scandal would land on a show called The Traitors. The jokes write themself.
With that in mind, Tom recently revealed that he went into the show with zero interest in playing as a Traitor. Some people were dying for the chance, but Tom said he would have rather quit the show altogether.
Tom Sandoval knew he needed to be a Faithful
In a new interview with Us Weekly, Tom admitted that he wanted people to see a different side of him. He’s still trying to wash off the stench of Scandoval. Playing as a Traitor would have been too on the nose.
“One thing that I was very adamant about is that I just did not want to be a Traitor,” Tom admitted. “If Alan [Cumming] would’ve picked me to be a Traitor, I would’ve left the castle myself. I just, I had no desire.”
Despite his reputation from Vanderpump Rules, Tom said that he wouldn’t have been good at playing the game as a Traitor. He had the perfect analogy to explain himself. He said it’s like forcing a kid to play an instrument versus a kid who actually wants to play an instrument.
“The person who wants to play an instrument is going to be a lot better at it,” he told the outlet. “I knew there were people there that really, really wanted to be Traitors. So I was like, ‘I’m just not gonna be good at it.’”
Although Tom walked away from the experience empty-handed, it sounds like he’s satisfied with his run. Even his biggest haters found a way to laugh with him — with the exception of maybe Chrishell Stause.
“It’s a more positive, fun gaming environment that would get people to see me in a different light,” he explained.
“The funny antics that come with it and the campiness of it all,” Sandoval continued. “I just knew that people would see a different side.”
The Traitors is streaming on Peacock. The Season 3 finale drops Thursday, March 7 at 9/8c.
