Southern Charm star Venita Aspen is not happy with the way she’s being depicted on the show this season. She thinks production portrayed her as a “homewrecker,” making it seem like she was still flirting with JT Thomas after learning he was off the market.
On March 1, Venita took to her Instagram Stories to set the story straight in the face of apparently altered timelines on the show. The fashion influencer was adamant that she would never continue to flirt with her co-star knowing he had a girlfriend.

“Let me make something VERY CLEAR,” she said. ”That dinner JT and I had after I made a Branzino was AFTER the Bahamas y’all as an audience saw it BEFORE. So this week’s episode is now making me look like I’m a home wrecker [sic] when I’m not.”
“I know what I signed up for,” Venita added, “but I also will not allow the world to think I’m that woman when I’m not.”
In the February 6 episode, Venita invited her then-crush to dinner at her home, where she prepared the branzino. During dinner, the pair discussed their obvious chemistry with each other, until JT shared that he was already otherwise involved.
“Do I know we [have] chemistry? Am I extremely attracted to you? Yes,” he said. But then he dropped the bomb, adding, “But, I’m just being real. I’m seeing someone.”
Later admitting her heart was “shattered,” Venita said in a production confessional, “I knew he was talking to someone, but it wasn’t a ‘this is who I’m dating.’”
She had no idea he had a girlfriend. “I’m equally part angry and equally part sad, ’cause how long have we been flirting?”
At the time though, she made it clear that she would respect his relationship, as she wasn’t a “homewrecker.”
During a preview of an upcoming episode where the cast visits the Bahamas, Venita excitedly shares that she and JT have been texting each other.
“He has feelings for you? Like more than a friend, or no?” castmate Salley Carson asks. Venita just nods and grins.
On February 25, Venita told host Nick Viall on The Viall Files podcast that the woman JT was dating viciously attacked her online after the release of the Season 10 trailer.
“We dated, I guess, for like two months,” she explained. “And then the super-teaser drops and this woman decides to annihilate me on social media.”
Insisting she was unaware that JT was dating anyone until he finally told her over dinner, Venita didn’t deserve to be attacked this way.
“That he was dating … I was unaware of,” she added. “And basically [she], like, calls me out on my name. And I [told JT], ‘Hey, I don’t [know] what’s going on with this. I need you to put a handle on it.’ And he was like, ‘I can’t do anything about it.’”
Sadly, that says it all about JT. If he can’t straighten out the situation and get his girl to stop attacking his friends, then Venita’s definitely better off without him.
