We did it. We reached the end of Love is Blind season 8, which might be the most divisive season to date. About 50% of us stayed around for Joey’s funny accent or to discover more about Ben’s TikTok drama. Five couples were engaged by the end of the pods, although one dropped off before the weddings — byeeeee Lauren and Dave.
Then came the wedding episode. An hour and a half of our lives dedicated to whether Sara & Ben, Monica & Joey, Virginia & Devin, and Taylor & Daniel would tie the knot. So without further ado: which couples got married in Love is Blind season 8?
Did Sara and Ben get married?
The episode started at where the former left off, with Sara and Ben at the altar, ready to say “I do”— or “I don’t.” Now this couple has been the center of the audience’s focus over the season, given their differing political views, and especially political interests. This started in the pods when Sara asked Ben about various political issues, including Black Lives Matter and the death of George Floyd. Ben replied that he was quite “ignorant” about such things, despite their city’s central role in it. Sara was not impressed.
This remained a running theme throughout the season, with hurdles including Ben’s faith (and not knowing his church’s stance on the LGBT+ community) and some TikTok drama about him. Yet despite all of this, it truly seemed like Sara might ignore her head and follow her heart.
But we should’ve known that these issues were too close to her heart, as at the altar she tearfully told Ben that she had to marry someone who was on the “same wavelength as her,” and he clearly wasn’t. Ben smiled affectionately at her and said he still wanted to date and explore this, to which Sara replied, “We’ll see”— brutal, especially with the entire room chuckling at that.
Sara explained to her family and viewers that she wants someone who is “more curious about [her] brain.” On the possibility of dating, she did not seem swayed, and explained that it would just “continue the cycle of hoping and wanting something to work when it’s clear it’s not a good fit.”
Ben seemed to take things well, and prayed for Sara with his friends — which she would’ve hated. I don’t expect a reconciliation from these two at the reunion, or much drama at all. It seems that everything has been said and done. In all honesty, I expect Ben to be dating someone new at the reunion and engaged to a fellow religious girlie within the next six months, with a baby on the way in a year. Stay tuned.
Did Monica and Joey get married?
Now for our second wedding, where the vibe was DIFFERENT. Joey arrived on his longboard and explained he went to the gym that morning. He then went full bro with his buddies, including a bunch of barking.
Monica seemed hella nervous but excited, babbling away with her sister and bestie. Her sister still didn’t seem swayed by the whole thing, but this might be the fact that her lil sis was getting married before her, which was something she’d mentioned before.
Then came Monica’s journey to the altar which might have been the most awkward thing we’ve ever seen on this show. Girlie, give the flowers to someone! ANYONE! This awkwardness should’ve clarified what was to come, but somehow I still thought these two theatre kids would tie the knot.
But as soon as Monica hesitated, Joey knew, and we all knew. She quietly admitted, “I don’t right now.” The pair seemed in agreement on the matter and even walked out together, all very polite and positive. The crowd applauded and they even received a standing ovation — see, theatre kids!
Joey reflected that the biggest issues seemed to be Monica’s sister’s stance against the marriage and his lack of physical affection. He also admitted that at the altar it was the first time that Monica said she loved him. As for Monica, she had mentioned that Joey was less emotional than her and this made her doubt him.
My opinion? It’s the fact that he proposed by asking, “Would you get engaged with me?” But that’s just our two cents. Monica seemed open to dating, but Joey seemed ready to marry or quit it. More to be seen at the reunion.
Did Virginia and Devin get married?
This scene felt like it took FOREVER — honestly was this an hour of the hour-and-a-half episode? Virginia and Devin did not escape the political curse of season 8, as their toughest conversations revolved around differing values and a prenup.
In contrast to previous couples, both their families seemed pretty keen. Devin’s family had initially been hesitant about Virginia’s request for a prenup until they discovered she just wanted them both to leave with what they came with… so a literal prenup. Virginia and Devin’s moms were even in matching dresses, which seemed like a promising sign, along with the multiple ladybugs Virginia kept finding —someone close a window already.
But the ladybugs were apparently telling girlie to GTFO of there, as at the altar Virginia started crying and whispered, “I love you so much, but I’m just not ready.” Devin started crying and Virginia quickly left, accompanied by her family.
Devin’s mom accurately pointed out that she came on a show designed to end in marriage, so she should’ve been ready. Girlie wasn’t holding back and I respect that.
Virginia explained to viewers that there were too many “topics he didn’t want to talk about, like politics” and “even our sexual relationship we didn’t get to.” Virginia further shared that their differences in politics weren’t the dealbreaker, but rather the way it was discussed. She gave an example of how he asked if she voted “with [her] faith in mind.”
Devin seemed open to dating further, and Virginia seemed ready to Runaway Bride this shit. I have a feeling some drama is gonna pop off between these two at the reunion.
Did Taylor and Daniel get married?
As High School Musical once told us…”This is the last chance to get it right.” Were we about to have the least successful season in Love is Blind history, without a single marriage? Even season 5 gave us Lydia and Milton, and no one likes to talk about that season.
So Taylor and Daniel faced their first big hurdle right out of the pods, when she accused him of following her on Instagram before the experiment. We all thought that would be the end of this Christmas-obsessed couple, but we were wrong! Taylor accepted that she must have imagined it (*cough* gaslight) and they moved forward. They experienced minimal hurdles along the way and seemed to be the only couple that avoided the political curse.
The pair wrote each other letters to be read on the day, which kinda feels like cheating — whatever. The families were both keen beans for this and all seemed well. Then it was time for the ceremony. The bridesmaids were all in shades of forest green, which was the color of Taylor’s reveal dress—this couldn’t be a coincidence! But the real eye-catcher was Daniel’s sister on the piano, singing “Can’t Help Falling in Love”— if you felt nothing, you are broken. The two grinned at each other at the altar, and Taylor told Daniel, “My soul has known your soul for a lifetime” and said, “I do.”
Daniel looked like he could barely hold the words in, and ultimately blurted, “Absolutely. I do.” And they were married! Taylor and Daniel are the only couple to get married in season 8 of Love is Blind.
What’s next for the pair? Well, they’d been waiting for marriage, so Daniel proudly told viewers, “I think our plan is to consummate the marriage.” Too much info, but thank you.
Next stop is the Love is Blind season 8 reunion, which will air on March 9.
