Since Season 7, Dorit Kemsley and Kyle Richards have been thick as thieves. The two formed an unlikely bond, especially since the OG was so close to Lisa Vanderpump. But thanks to creating a mini alliance, the duo came out of Puppy Gate relatively unscathed. Ever since they have been ride or die for one another, that is until the most recent season of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Dorit, who has finally found her voice, is taking everyone down with her, including Kyle. And for once in her Bravo career, Kyle has been left out in the cold.
Dorit Kemsley is taking up too much screen time
Kyle has liked to think she is the fan favorite for over ten years. And for a while, I would argue that she was. The Halloween actress shared a lot about her life, including her family, sister relationships, and her career. She seemed to have the perfect life. When Dorit first popped up on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 7, she was like a deer in the headlights. And Kyle took her under her wing. Even with the horrid faux accent, Kyle seemed to teach Dorit the ins and outs of reality TV. However, Kyle kept most of the storylines for herself. While Dorit sat quietly by the mother of four had intense fights with both Kim Richards and Kathy Hilton.
She also had a major falling out with Lisa, resulting in the very quotable “Goodbye, Kyle!” So, it stands to reason that she figured Season 14 would go the same way. But Dorit and fate had other plans. Through personal choices of her own, Dorit has shined bright like a diamond thanks to her PK Kemsley separation storyline. And now that D has had a taste of being queen bee, she isn’t letting go.
Kyle Richards felt the season should be about her
As the only remaining original housewife, the 56-year-old is noticeably unhappy with the star treatment Dorit has been getting. Kyle has gone as far as to complain via source to OK! Magazine. The insider shared, “Having known Kyle for years, it’s definitely possible she’s upset with Dorit for stealing her thunder on the screen.” The actor felt that Season 14 should have been about her and her unsettling split from Mauricio Umansky. The duo split in 2023 but have yet to file for divorce. Kyle, however, has failed to give any real insight into her romantic life. She has kept things up in the air and led fans to believe she has fallen in love with country singer Morgan Wade while Mau was out partying with younger women.
“When Dorit announced she was separating from her husband, she obviously would have to share screen time with the two storylines.” The source noted that Kyle is allegedly “sick of being called the bad guy” and thought her split from Mauricio would make her a more “sympathetic character.” However, her storming off set only ends up giving Dorit even more camera time. Clearly, Kyle’s plan has backfired. But she can only be angry at herself.
Dorit Kemsley is stepping up into the center diamond
Naturally, the change of direction doesn’t sit well with Kyle. But as they say, the show must go on. So far, Dorit has had at least three major fights involving her. She has yelled at Sutton Stracke inside the sprinter van. And isn’t keen on how the socialite cut her off when she spoke about her son learning of the divorce. And she has annihilated Kyle to the point that the actor’s head vein popped out. I’ll be honest: I was never a Dorit fan. But by golly, Season 14 Dorit is everything I didn’t know I needed. She is fiery and not taking sh*t from anyone.
There is something to be said about this newfound attitude. For the longest time, Dorit was a welcome mat. A Real Housewives star who happily sat by interjecting a thought or two. But this season alone, she has earned her paycheck tenfold. I mean, who else could have told Camille Grammer, “You have no business coming in trying to ruffle my feathers over something from eight years ago that was nothing. It was nothing. How many apologies, how many times, how many that, how much attention. I’ve never met a thirstier human, Dehydrated.” What a classic.
