Holland joked that he expected at least some kind of reaction, the publication reported. “You’ll be like, ‘I’ll text her, I’ll take her to dinner,’ no response even, no excuses, ‘I’m busy tonight, I’m playing soccer,’ nada,” he said.
Holland reported that he was watching Lewis Hamilton race at the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix when he saw Holland in a nearby hospitality suite. According to the outlet, the actor thought he would “shoot my shot” by sending the Manchester City star a message. He later laughed and said, “I never thought I’d be talking about this on live television, but here we are.”
The conversation also turned to England’s 2-1 World Cup win over Norway, which knocked the Netherlands team out of the tournament. When Fallon asked if dinner was still a possibility, Holland joked, “I don’t think he’ll have dinner with me after the second day,” before adding, “A little bit, bless him.”
