In November 2025, after a transformative 14-year tenure, Olivier Rousteing stepped down as creative director of Balmain. Fast forward eight months and the Bordeaux-born French fashion designer was appointed creative director of Rabanne. The news comes after Julian Dossena parted ways with the brand in June. Building on the original and rich legacy of Paco Rabanne, Rousteing will lead the brand’s next phase of evolution in fashion, and bring his unique vision to the house. “Let’s begin this beautiful journey,” said Rousteing, who will present his debut collection for Rabanne during Paris Fashion Week in March 2027.

“It’s a move that no one expected but at the same time everyone will welcome. If it works and brings unattainable glam, Rabanne will be gone.” (tourbillions)
“I wish him all the best. I’ve always had a soft spot for him. Even my personal style is completely opposite to his design language.” (fashionfanatico)
“Raban needs a little shine in the spotlight. I wish him the best.” (pieragotha)
“It’s going to be hard as hell, but I think that’s just what Raban needs. The key here is going to be a really well-traded collection and an iconic bag.” (ladyjunone)
“I’m a little concerned about the interpretation of perfume bottles in their designs. (At Rabbaneh), they have a wide selection to work with.” (Givenchy Lover)
“They will try to capitalize on her celebrity connections to bring some customers over to them and increase brand perception. Ultimately it will fail miserably (it will take a few years), and the only thing it will manage to do is bridge the RTW image with the perfume image because it will have the same level of sticky.” (frenchie)
