What happened in In the City Episode 9?

In The City episode 9 – titled: “Cider and Squabbles” – the group continued their Friendsgiving holidays in the countryside. But there was plenty of drama before dinner was served, as Whitney clashed with Lindsay and Georgina over her “single mom card” statement. Meanwhile, Kenny and Gavin’s friendship is tested, and as for Kyle and Amanda? Well, you know how it ends.
Here’s how it all went down…
Kyle reflects on his crash-out

After letting his emotions boil over at the dinner table in last week’s episode, Kyle opened up to Kenny and Ione about the status of his and Amanda’s relationship. “I told her I love her and care about her,” she said, describing how he tried to patch things up with her after their argument.
“I’m trying to figure out how to move this experiment forward,” Kyle said of his then-testing isolation.
Meanwhile, Amanda revealed in a confessional how the ordeal affected her. “My body was completely shaking, and I couldn’t stop,” she said of the physical reaction she felt. “I couldn’t breathe. I’d never felt that way before,” Amanda said. She explained that she felt it was her body’s way of telling her to “get out” of the relationship.

When some of the group shopped at a supermarket for food to make for Friendsgiving dinner, Danielle asked Whitney about her belief that Lindsay had “played the single mom card” to get the primary suite at the vacation rental.
Instead of trying to defuse the situation, Whitney reiterated her earlier statement. She also pointed out that unlike both Lindsay and Georgina, other single mothers do not get help from nannies. “They need to examine themselves from that perspective,” he said.
“I thought it was something we could chalk up to a misunderstanding. But now I’m feeling a little nervous,” Danielle responded in the confessional, knowing how Lindsay might react. That being said, Danielle said that she would prefer Lindsay to focus the attention on someone else instead of herself for a change. A ray of hope, eh?
Georgina got furious

On the way to a wholesome apple picking activity, the group traveled in separate cars, and both had the same topic of conversation: “Single Mom Card.” In her car, Whitney repeated the statement again. She also claimed that people around Lindsay are “afraid” of her, so they never go up against her. Meanwhile, in her car, Lindsay becomes more angry about all this (supported by Georgina), and says that being a nanny allows her to work and look after baby Gemma. “If she thought I was intimidating before, she wouldn’t have met me today,” Lindsay said with foreboding.
“It feels like she always has an excuse and everyone bows to Lindsay. I’m tired of seeing it,” Whitney said while sitting by the apple orchard’s fire pit. “Where do you get by saying that?” Georgina replied, noticing that Lindsay had already left the conversation. After this Kenny jumped to the defense of his girlfriend. He argued that Lindsay had used the “single mom card” to get the room she wanted.
Georgina responded that what Whitney said about Lindsay was “disgusting to women and mothers”. Before walking away from the conversation, Georgina asked why Whitney had involved herself in this. “This is none of your business,” she said, before making a brand new accusation against Whitney and Kanye. “I guess you two don’t like women.”
Lindsay confronts Whitney

While preparing food for the group’s Friendsgiving meal, Lindsay questions Whitney about her POV. “My comment has nothing to do with you being a single mother. I have great respect for you and Georgina regarding that topic,” she explained. Lindsay responded, “I can play the mom card whenever I want, but you can’t call it a ‘card’.” Erm, what?
Other members of the group joined in, including Gavin, who told Lindsay that he “didn’t do anything wrong.” This clearly angered her BFF, Kenny… more on that later!
Still trying to resolve the drama between Lindsay and Whitney, Kenny tried to explain that his girlfriend was coming from the viewpoint that Yvonne should have gotten the primary suit as a “gesture” for how terrible her wedding dinner turned out. The conversation then turned to Georgina’s accusation that Whitney and Kenny “hate” women because they behave “disrespectfully” and “disrespectfully”, for which Whitney apologized. “Hopefully we can put all this aside and have a nice Friendsgiving dinner,” she said. Are you betting on it?
a friendship questioned

It wasn’t just the girls from In The City who clashed in this week’s episode. Former besties Kenny and Gavin also struggled to see eye to eye. After Gavin supports Lindsay in her fight with Whitney, Kenny accuses her of “lying” to him. “At this point, I can’t stand Gavin and his nonsense one more second,” he said in confession.
In a one-on-one moment, Kenny later accused Gavin of “taking advantage of public opportunities” to take a dig at him, and listed several instances that hurt his feelings. “Is it malicious, where is it coming from?” he asked. Clearly shocked by the accusation, Gavin responded that he “couldn’t believe” that his friend felt that way. “Half of those things were jokes,” he said, adding that they were “taken out of context.” In this regard, Gavin expressed regret for the timing and delivery of some of the statements.
In an emotional moment, both had tears in their eyes and confirmed that they see each other as “brothers”. Ultimately, Kenny asked for more support from Gavin, who apologized for showing a lack of it in recent days. “Know that I’m your man, buddy. No questions,” Gavin concluded.
kyle and amanda call it quits

“For the first time, I felt like ‘This is the one,'” Kyle said of his and Amanda’s wedding after they left their separate vacation rentals and moved back to New York. “It’s a sad feeling (but) I’m not surprised we’re here.”
As the couple tearfully bid goodbye and get into their cars, the episode skips ahead to 2026. A collection of news articles and video clips played on the screen, documenting Kyle and Amanda’s official separation as well as her scandalous new relationship with her Summer House co-star, West.
In a conversation timestamped April 2026, Kyle and Amanda sit down to discuss the results. He accused her of “blatantly lying” about her relationship with West. “You left me for a man who’s three times as angry,” he continued, alluding to Amanda’s problem with Kyle’s partying and DJ lifestyle. “I didn’t leave you for anyone else,” she replied.
Reflecting on things, Kyle said that he had “self-sabotaged” and that he was “not proud” of how he behaved towards the end of their marriage. To this, Amanda said that there were “a lot” of factors that led to the end of their relationship.
Amanda talks openly about West

Speaking to Kyle about Scamanda’s impact, Amanda revealed that she felt “a lot of hate” from people online… but the one plus side was that Loverboy (which was on the verge of financial ruin) had seen its sales increase.
“I feel like I can’t even leave my house,” Amanda said of how scared she was because of the reaction from Bravo fans. “Like, it was scary to walk here. I’m literally afraid to go outside because I’m afraid someone will yell in my face.”
Looking ahead, Amanda said she wanted to “feel a sense of normalcy” in her life, and again insisted that there was “no affair” between her and West. She added, “I’m not downplaying what I did, or how much it messed with my friendship.” “But I also want to be able to go out and do things, because if I keep hiding, I’ll fall into that dark hole.”
Amanda then suggested that she, West, Kyle, and Sally (from Southern Charm) should go out to dinner on a “double date”. So, maybe there will be a crossover for Season 2? Bring on the reunion!
