White House posts Donald Trump-centric photos after FIFA World Cup

The White House has rejected FIFA’s apparent decision donald trump out of of spain Officer world cup celebration photos. It came just hours after football’s governing body shared pictures of the Spain team lifting the trophy with the president seemingly missing from the frame. In response, the White House published its own selection of photos, with Trump at the center of the action.

On Monday afternoon, the White House shared six photos from the World Cup final on its social media channels. The President appears prominently in all six images. Two of the photos show Trump as the only person in focus. Meanwhile, only two of the six actually involve members of Spain’s football team.

The posts came after a series of photos of Spain’s celebrations from FIFA’s official accounts were cropped to exclude Donald Trump. A photo of Spain’s players jumping in celebration shows only the hem of the president’s navy suit in one corner. The Spanish team’s own Instagram account also shared a victory photo shortly after the match that did not include Trump. Nor was a 20-slide post published later that evening showing various players holding the trophy.

The cropping was already teased during the hot mic moment. Australian commentator Claudio Fabiano was caught on a hot mic during the broadcast saying, “They can edit him out of that.” It happened as Trump and FIFA president Gianni Infantino stood near the celebrating Spanish side. After all, the trophy presentation itself was strange.

This moment has been described as uncomfortable. Infantino apparently attempted to take Trump away from the team as he raised the trophy and fired confetti cannons. Earlier, when Trump and Infantino appeared on screen and entered the field, they were welcomed by the crowd at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
