Welcome back to the latest recap of The Real Housewives of Orange County. Last time, Vicki shared her insecurities with Tamra. Meanwhile, Carmella has to face some hard truths about her relationship with her boyfriend Danny Hampel. What Happened in RHOC Season 20 Episode 12: “Lay It on Me.”
What happened on Real Housewives of Orange County Season 20 Episode 12?
Vicki commented that Danny was basically “raising” Carmela’s kids. Naturally, Carmella confronts Vickie at Shannon’s luau. And Tamra reunited with her son Ryan Wyeth at her daughter’s birthday party.
Carmella’s kids have thoughts about Vicki
Carmela was walking with her children. Her son Jacques got his permit, and Carmela heard the news in the group chat. Unfortunately, she was not a member. Apparently, the kids and their dad have their own private text series.
Then, the kids and Carmella discussed Vicki. One daughter rebuts Vicki’s constant comments about ketchup on hot dogs and mimics the face Vicki makes.
Carmela explained, “I thought we had figured out the whole Vegas thing, and she apologized. But when she came here to the party, she said it didn’t feel like we lived here. There was no TV on the wall. There’s no food in the pantry.”
“It’s unfair,” Carmella’s daughter Presley commented. “It’s low rent,” Carmela replied.
In her confessional, Carmella said, “It’s not just about the food in the pantry. She’s saying I’m a liar, and that’s what’s bothering me. You talk about me in every room I’m in. You know my name, bitch,” she added.
Gina won’t hide this secret from Carmella
Gina met Shannon while she was preparing for her luau. “I feel a little guilty, because I know this was supposed to be Luau for Mary and Travis’ engagement,” Gina said while speaking out.
Then, Shannon asked if Gina and Travis were talking about wedding planning. Gina replied, “It’s very hard to justify the expense of a wedding.” “We’ll just sit down with a wedding planner and do it as a first step.”
Naturally, the La Quinta trip came up. “It was just a minor glitch,” Shannon admitted. When Shannon tried to defend Vicki, Gina responded, “That’s rude.”
And Vickie can’t stop talking about Carmella. Take the example of the flashback where Vicki tells Heather and Shannon, “It works for them because Danny is basically there raising the kids.” Wow!
Gina is surprised when Shannon shares what Vicki said about Danny raising Carmela’s children. “She then said that Carmella is an evil parent,” Gina said. And when Gina tried to convince Shannon to confront Vicki, Shannon said that Vicki was “fragile”.
However, Gina refuses to keep the secret. “I’m telling Carmella this,” she said.
Meanwhile, Tamra, her daughter Sophia, and Tamra’s mother Sandy were making a cake for Ava’s birthday. “Ava is my granddaughter. She’s very smart and she can get on your nerves,” Tamra said in her confessional.
Sophia asked, “So is Ryan coming? You haven’t talked to him in a while.”
“He came for Easter, and it was the first time I’d seen him in a year,” Tamra said. In her confessional, Tamra explained, “Ryan and I got into an argument about the things he was liking and posting on his social media. And I kept explaining to him that this is hate speech and you don’t need to post it.”
She added, “He’s in a much better place in his life now and I couldn’t be happier.” All four generations of Tamra’s family enjoyed the party, and Tamra gave her granddaughter a Gucci purse.
Shannon’s Luau was the center of drama
The guests had to struggle a lot to get the lei. “Does she know how old everyone is?” Emily asked in her confessional. “You’re stuck in limbo, then you get Ben-Gay on the other side.”
Still, Gina was surprised at how much the party had cost. “I don’t know how much Shannon paid for this party, but it looks expensive. I’m definitely thinking it’s probably enough to pay her back taxes,” Gina mused to herself.
Plus, Shannon alerted Emily that Vicki was expecting an apology after the La Quinta drama. Emily replied that she would not release it. Of course, Vicki congratulated Emily and acted like nothing was wrong.
At the luau, Carmella admitted that she was “still angry” at Vicki. And that was before Gina shared Vicki’s latest swipe at Carmella. “I hope he has some reputable life insurance because I’m about to kick the OG’s ass,” Carmella said in her confessional.
“Okay, I’m going to make a scene at your party, Shannon. I’m already sorry,” Carmella said. Hey, at least he apologized!
Elsewhere at the party, Emily talks fancy pants. “I admire you and want you as a friend,” Emily said. However, Heather had her doubts. “Gina told me that just being around me makes you nervous,” Heather said.
Emily admitted that there were “different incidents” where she was angry. She said she thinks Heather “inspires me a lot as a mother.” Then, Emily apologized. Now the couple was in a better place.
Carmella slaps Vickie during dinner
Everyone sat down to eat. Carmella confronts Danny about Vicki’s latest comment. Tamra suggested that Carmella ask Vicki if that’s really what she said. So, Carmella clinked her glass to make a toast.
“I know what she’s going to ask,” Tamra announced. “You wanted to know why Vicki said your boyfriend picked up…”
While Vicki claimed, “That’s actually not true,” Heather asked Shannon what Vicki said. “I’ll be honest with you. Yes,” Shannon said.
“You guys take things and twist them,” Vicki said. “They’re both raising kids.” Heather told Vicki, “You said it. You said, ‘He’s raising kids.'”
As she was backed into a corner, Vickie told Carmella that she did not mean to hurt Carmella’s feelings. Carmella replied, “But that’s the most hurtful thing that could be said to you or anyone.” Therefore, Emily urges Vicki to apologize.
Carmella said, “The last time you called me ‘sh*t mom’ in Vegas she apologized. And then immediately leaves my house, and you said I don’t live there.” “There are no TVs on the walls. There is no food in the pantry. All this is trying to poke holes in my story and discredit me.”
In her confessional, Vicki commented, “Everyone has seen the red flags with Carmella. I’m not trying to discredit her. She’s doing all this for her own little self-interest.”
Jane told that Vicki does not like new people. “But you’re new this year too,” Carmella said. Vicky retorted, “Girl, I’m not new this year. I started this franchise 21 years ago.”
Carmella replied, “Everything has an end.” “Who are you?” Vicki said, seemingly in shock.
Why is everyone apologizing to Vicky?
Then, Tamra asked Shannon what really happened at La Quinta. “I’m not apologizing because I wasn’t rude,” Emily insisted.
Vicki responded, “You guys have made it uncomfortable for me too.” She reported that she was “overwhelmed” and “wanted to stop.” Emily replied that she and Jen never wanted to “hurt” Vicki’s feelings.
Vicki shared that her boyfriend Michael Smith left early the next morning, which also hurt her feelings. “One of my deepest fears is abandonment,” Vicki said in her confessional.
She said, “When my mother left me, I was not ready. I don’t think I would feel secure in any relationship for the rest of my life.”
The night ended on a good note with couples polishing coconuts from knees to neck. Tamra and Eddie win! Meanwhile, Carmella was confused about how Vickie made herself the victim and gained the group’s sympathy.
