Maya Jama brought serious tartan energy as she showed off her shapely legs in a Vivienne Westwood miniskirt on the cover of The Observer Magazine. The Love Island host fronted this weekend’s issue, and her coordinated corset-and-skirt look turned heads.

Maya Jama’s Vivienne Westwood micro miniskirt gets a bright tartan twist. She wore a designer Zora mini skirt, price €810. In fact, this piece is cut from the label’s Buchanan tartan for the season, woven with a subtle sheen that gives its bright blue and gray check a fluid finish. The pattern is based on the 19th century Buchanan set, associated with the Buchanan clan of Loch Lomond.
In terms of silhouette, the mini-length features a soft, draped detail at the front that flows into an asymmetric hem. The draped effect gave the piece a sculptural quality, transforming a classic plaid into unmistakably Westwood. An orb button adds a signature finishing touch, while the interior lining features the house’s archival stripe and lettering.
Meanwhile, a structured waistband anchors the draped front, providing a tailored base to the fluid skirt. But coverMaya’s glowing complexion stood out against the dim background, and the surface of the skirt caught the light beautifully.
She paired the skirt with a matching Westwood corset in the same tartan, finished with ruffled straps. As a result, the coordinated set reads as a fluid look, with the structured bodice of the corset contrasting with the soft drape of the skirt.
Plus, the blue and gray color palette looked rich and moody, with chocolate tones peeking through the layered curtains at the hem. Bold yet cohesive, the pattern made tartan feel fresh rather than traditional.
Hairstylist Alisha Dobson kept the style casual, letting Maya’s long, dark hair fall over her shoulders. The smooth finish ensured that tailoring remained the main event. The shoot was photographed by Brian Daly, giving the cover a stunning finish.
Inside the issue, Bessia Cummings meets The Traitors’ turret away from Star to find out who the woman in the cloak really is. Accordingly, the cover line, “Smile…and carry on,” promises a closer look at the courage, savvy and success behind one of British television’s most recognizable faces.
